The emotional inhibitor is a device worn by all Llinoq starting at the age of 10, and then worn for the rest of their life.
Typically, it is a small collar that goes around the neck and connects to the base of the skull where it is connected to the brain stem. It monitors the amount of the emotional chemicals in the brain and then adds chemicals that counteract the emotional chemicals to lower the intensity to what, for a human, would be below normal by such a degree to be considered abnormal.
However, the Llinoq are teleemphatic. They feel others emotions. Surrounded by non-teleemphatics, it isn't such a big deal. However, their own emotions can cause a problem by rebounding as other species pick up through their natural means (Such as body language and facial expressions) and then the Llinoq picks it up again. It's even worse when surrounded by other Llinoq, as they continually pick each other's emotions up. The emotional intensity increases exponentially and uncontrollably. The purpose of the inhibitor is decrease emotional intensity to prevent that from happening, after instances of extremem emotion overpowering groups and causing mass chaos.
For stronger teleempaths, it can also be implanted directly into the brain itself as a system of microscopic AI nanobots. For weaker ones, it can also be worn as a bracelet or anklet. -----------------------------
The combat armor of the Llinoq is tied directly to the combat suit, almost as an extension, actually, due to the extreme duress combat places on those involved, especially the Llinoq, since most of them will sense the emotions of all involved, even their deaths. That is highly traumatic for a Llinoq, because it feels as if they themselves also die, sometimes even multiple times. The normal inhibitor can not manage all the emotions and chemicals formed while in combat, and should a Llinoq be injured badly, it is not always possible to get their body to safety while it heals. So, the Llinoq decided to kill two birds with one star by integrating an emotional control system run by an AI with a suit of exoarmor that can also be piloted by the AI should the wearer be incapacitated.
The suit is designed to maximize protection and mobility, given the Llinoq ability to see several seconds in the future and instinctively respond to that, it's easier to avoid enemy fire than simply take it on armor. It is also entirely self-contained and can operate in any environment. It's controlled through a telepathic link that connects through the inhibitor, and can also be connected to any Llinoq vehicle they pilot.
