We don't really have a place for economic articles, and we also don't really have a place for sharing links easily. So I'll just drop this here and hope people see it. This is an excellent long-form article from Medium that really got me thinking about economics, currency, and sci-fi novels. Honestly, the author raises more questions than he answers, but his overview of money and currency is awesome, and really applicable to writers.

The Economics of Star Trek

Anyways, enjoy :) Any time I come across interesting articles I always try to get them around -- it's good to get outside sources and keeps an echo chamber from forming :D Let me know what you guys think of this -- I'd love to discuss it.

Well. That was certainly intriguing!! Answered a lot of questions for a story of mine.

On the subject of feasibility in reality? I don't think it would really happen. 'By the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread all of the days of thy life' (paraphrase mine). I don't think God would let us-or want us-to get to a point where it would be that easy.

And there are always people who don't care what others think and would misuse the power they had.

and I'm stating my case terribly aren't I...

Oh well.

But for some people, it is that easy right now. So wouldn't that already be breaking that promise if that was exactly what it meant? * cocks head *
