Red roses mean love, nightshade means death....My knowledge of the language of flowers is supremely poor... Meanings of flowers, how to arrange them, differences in cultures perhaps, differences through time....any help on this subject would be welcome. I have a race that I want to incorporate this into, but I obviously need to gather more data... Thank you so much, and God bless! |

For individual meanings, this is the best place I've found so far. http://www.victorianbazaar.com/meanings.html There are some it does not have, so you will have to look up borage and other unusual flowers, but at least you'll know how to use a green rose. If you plan on giving flowers new meanings based on your world-building, I would suggest choosing flowers and researching them individually to learn how they came to mean what they do. That will give you an idea of how to give your own flowers meaning. |

But I'm glad to know I may use them... (having looked up 'green rose') Well, if anyone gives me a green rose, I'm going to back away very slowly.... I may rename the flowers themselves, but still. But that is very good advice, and I will definitely keep it in mind! Thank you so much, this is a great place to start!! |
