It started with an innocent picture; a dragon rider with a bandage covering one eye. From there it morphed into a cultural bias.

See, I was thinking about the saying "The eyes are the window to the soul", and I had the thought - what if a person doesn't have that 'window'? What if they're blind, or half-blind? So then my brain yelled "Soulless!" at me. What do you think? What if there was a culture in which blind and half-blind people are considered to have no souls?
Has anyone else tried using sayings like this as a basis for discrimination?

Just think what kinds of nice down-trodden characters you could create! And maiming someone has the double effect of not only damaging their body but also making everyone else mock them and chase them out of villages, etc. because they've "lost their souls".
(And by the way, I'll probably use this idea, but you're welcome to create any spin-offs you so desire.)
