| Many languages have a familiar form of speaking, and a formal form. You see this more often in other languages but even in English, you see people take more time with their words in front of business associates and loosen up around friends (which regrettably has become even more informal through texts and online). The idea there is to show respect to some people, while accepting that other people understand you and need no formalities. Now what if a culture had it reversed? What if it was seen as wasting time to be long winded in formality, and those of higher rank preferred people to get to the point as quickly as possible with no interjections of flattery or unneeded details. Then at home, one would be at liberty to use as many words as they like to communicate their mind to someone else. | |

| That is an awesome idea. And people like parents and older siblings expect you to watch how you talk around them, in some ways, maybe? I think you could do a lot with this. | |

| I have to say I think this is an absolutely brilliant idea! Can you imagine if you tried to explain yourself to someone important? They'd be offended! Also, you couldn't beat around the bush when something happened because everyone's time is important and when someone has the time to listen to you it must mean you're close to them. On the flip side, important people might not always get all the details as people would try to sum things up and take less time. Small things about an enemy's army might get missed and cause all sorts of trouble. Ahh! *loves this idea a lot* I'm not sure I have a culture it would fit though xD | |

| Well, tactics is where you could be asked to elaborate concisely. Almost like talking in bullet points rather than sentences. | |
