I think it's one of the least thought-about subjects in world-building. So in what areas of your world do certain events take place? Hurricanes in my world only exist on the edges of the world; since it's flat. What about dust storms, snowstorms, and tornadoes?

Just a random thought.

That's a good question, V. :) Considering that my world is round, I'm trying to pattern the weather after Earth's...although I'm not sure what effect three moons would have on it yet..

I pattern my weather around Earth's as well, Milly. More or less, anyway.

*nods* A very good subject to consider, especially in fantasy.

My main project involves a world that is most likely flat, is covered by clouds 100% of the time, doesn't have a sun (don't worry, it has other means of illumination), and probably has other strange worldbuilding factors that will make climate a thousand times more confusing to understand. I hope that in the end I will able to figure it all out.

This is slightly off-topic, but the Sword of Lyric series by Sharon Hinck has a sun-less and rain-less world. There's not much world-building in the books, but maybe the author has done some worldbuilding somewhere else that could be found *will look up some stuff up*

Weather is an interesting concept to consider. My weather is pretty much patterned after the earth. I make sure that I have different seasons in my books, snow, rain, and the like, but I have never really mixed up anything...

Be careful of your thoughts; guard your mind, for your thoughts become words. Be guarded when you speak, for your words turn into action. Watch what you do, for your actions will become habits. Be wary of your habits, for they become your character. Pray over your character; strive to mold it to the image of Christ, because your character will shape your destiny.

Ideas can germinate from the smallest seeds. Collect those seeds, and let them grow in the back of your mind. You may be surprised by what finally blooms.

*nods* I immediately thought of that when I came up with the complete cloud cover, but, thankfully, her science seems to work along the same lines as Earth's. Because of that I feel my clouds and sun stuff will be different enough (especially the clouds).

I too generally pattern the weather of my world after Earth, even though it's flat. But most countries have a patron (a Vayna (that universe's equivalent of an angel, sort of), a Great Fairy, a dragon, or something similar) who maintains its climate "the way it's supposed to be" (for example, the Sunshine Kingdom is so named because it's always sunny there and never rains, with moisture---and enough for a lot of forests---coming from dew, fog, and groundwater), which affects the climate and weather a lot more than location, elevation, etc., do.

Moved to the Geography room since weather patterns fall somewhat loosely under the umbrella of geography. :)

There is some abnormal weather at the climax of my book, but I don't want to give it away...

It's completely AWESOME though. :D

A world without a sun or with more than one moon will have a sea really different for earth.
Not only the moon can change the depth of water on the sea but the sun too. If you have a more closer moon or sun you'll have an higher water level.
