Post subject:  The History of Laishna

This is taken from my writings, so some of it might sound as though one of my characters is telling this as a story. ;)

:D Since this is my first post about my 'book' please tell me what you think. I also hope this is placed in the right section.. Well, here it goes...

“In the beginning of time, Jehovah created a beautiful and wonderful planet, full of many plants, animals and races, some of them our ancestors. He made everything perfect and blameless. But then the great ‘Change of Hearts’ took place. Many of those on the world disrupted the peace and protested of their inferiority to Jehovah. Saddened by this, Jehovah cast those who rebelled across the vast seas, on a island far from the light of day. He then watched as the Seeds of Evil turned even those who had remained good before, to darkness. A great war began, killing many and leaving some children without parents.

As the war progressed, our ancestors wanted the war to end, so they cried out to Jehovah, begging Him to take them away from the fighting. Jehovah answered, sending them to the planet Laishna, by means that have not been recorded or told to a living soul. On coming to Laishna, they rejoiced to Jehovah, for they would now have a permanent world to call home, with lands not ravaged by war. At first, they were scared of the sky that remained dark, so they stayed close to their portal, but as the seasons changed, a shining light appeared on the horizon, revealing thirteen moons that seemed to dance around Laishna--they could be seen at any time of day. Our ancestors called the planet Laishna, meaning ‘Dark Luck’ for they had been fortunate to find a suitable planet, even though the sky would always darken for three moons. They traveled through the Betsalela Forests and over the Irmeisha Mountains, which appeared to reflect the light of the sun, so they called them Irmeisha, meaning ‘Living Rainbow’. When they came down from the mountains, they decided to build their city at the base, for that reason they named the city Seravaile, for the city was truly the ‘Breath of the Mountains’. But as they had started building their great city, large reptilian beasts they called dragons came to them from over the mountains. The one they called Serenade, known also as the first dragon, was kind to them, and gave them help to build their city. She taught them about a ceremony that would link them to the dragons, she called it the ‘Choosing’. She Chose the leader of our ancestors, Azairah, to become her Guarded human. After many seasons, the city was built, along with a great Palace in the center that would be populated with dragons. Serenade and Azairah ruled the kingdom justly and with great fervor. But there were dragons that did not like living as equals with humans, they believed they should be treated better. A dragon of great evil named Dariac and his Guarded, Stephan, plotted to kill Serenade and her beloved Azairah. Dariac rebelled on the first night of the Dark Moon, killing half of his own draconic race and many of our ancestors, along with Azairah. Aquarathia, Serenade’s loyal dragon handmaiden, warned her of the assassination plot and fled with the distraught dragoness to Laristo, or the ‘Lost Citadel’. When Dariac heard the news that Serenade had escaped, he became enraged. He slaughtered many more innocent people and enslaved the rest.

Many seasons later, when Dariac had passed away, his son Adriad, took the throne. He once again restored Serenades kingdom and brought back the ‘Choosing’ ceremonies. He established a government to rule Seravaile called the Column, placing equal numbers of dragons and Guarded humans in the Column. The dragon Adriad then sent out many search parties to discover the hidden citadel of Laristo and bring back the queen Serenade. But the dragons and humans alike, searched far and wide across the world for Serenade, though they still could not find her. Saddened by the fact he could not find the dragoness, Adriad built a statue of her in the city’s square, so that no one could ever forget the first dragon…. Now, several centuries later, Serenade still remains hidden in Laristo, though there are few that today, still take on the challenge of finding the queen and one day, restoring her as the kingdoms ruler.”

Serena, that's really good! I love it! It's really creative, and I like your descriptive style. :)

BTW, welcome to Holy Worlds!

Why thank you. I believe I said something similar about your story :D I hope it captured the history of my land that I see. As you probably know, it is hard to explain the way your world is to others who know nothing about it. :D (At least I hope you do)

Oh yes, I understand. Believe me, I understand. ;)
I think that the first time I described my charries to you, your eyes glazed over slightly. :D
It's hard to bring across the right impression to your readers, sometimes.

Wait, you two -- Ciela and Serena -- know each other? How cool is that -- unless you have video screens or something. :P
Anyway, about the history -- I loved it! The part with the dragons and the humans was refreshingly unique. I found myself rather sucked in. :D

Thanks :D

Well the people who were transported were leaving the fallen, but a few who were transported turned 'evil' with Dariac and rebelled against the 'good' people and dragons. So there are many fallen and unfallen, though they are all sinful in some way. I hope that was clear enough :o

Wouldn't thirteen moons affect a lot of things, like tides, for instance? Why didn't Serenade take Arizaiah with her when she fled?

Post subject:  Re: The History of Laishna

Well, I haven't exactly worked out the kinks in the design of Laishna and the surrounding galaxies, but I think the tides will affect the land only on a few certain days when the gravitational pull between the planet and the moons is really strong, and some of the thirteen moons might be farther away so they might not affect the tides as much. Even then, the tides would be altered only by a miniscule amount. But I may have to go find some of my astronomy books and dust them off to get some more information on this topic. :P

^^ That is why Serenade didn't bring her Guarded with her. Sadly, Azairah bit the dust.

Am I supposed to be commenting on this? :P I'm not sure if this is archived or not......

It was, but then it wasn't, I was doing the autumn cleanup in this area, but it looks like Marcher Lord Seer wants to keep this going.

This is good; I'm looking forward to hearing more about Laishna! :D
