This 'Race' of humans, or, rather, this
branch of the human race that was made on Vadra, is called the 'Reyer' (They are also called Rangers, especially by other people groups, but I am trying to think of another 'scientificish' name for them) because they were the last group of people to arrive at the island called Viuden (paradise). They were also called this because they were thought to be the younger, more primitive, group of people on the island. Boy, were their brothers wrong about those last two assumptions...
Physical/mental Description: Rangers are mostly quite tall, ranging mostly from 6.6-7.6', but some get a little shorter/taller.
They are slim and graceful, but powerfully built; muscle builds quickly and shrinks slowly on them, allowing those that are injured for several weeks/months to return to their work with minimal loss of strength.
They are tough, can take damage seemingly without negative consequences especially when adrenaline takes them (think berserker), their bones don't break easily, and they heal quickly.
They are very coordinated, many of them are left-handed and/or ambidextrous. They find it easy to learn and master a new weapon, tool, or trade.
They are inventive and strong thinkers, they are more loyal to the creator (I have no name for God yet) than most other races
Their skin is like ours, some of them are lighter skinned while others are darker, but most of them take to the hot sun well, because they live outside in a warm climate.
Their hair is mostly brown to black in color, worn long by men and woman, but less tangled and longer on woman (

).
Their life span is upwards of one thousand years, they are mortal, but it is unusual for one to die from old age simply because they are such a healthy race (and are often at war).
Culture: This is gonna be pretty shallow, but it'll give you an idea of how they live: being a people that loves creation, they usually live in tents (though in the era of the Trythican metropolis they did live in huts for awhile), wandering their land, building and stocking cabins for those of their own that want to live in them and for times of need. They are woodsmen and woman, they know how to do things the natural way whether it be medicine, combat, food procurement, etc.
Family structure is a good example of how families ought to be structured, children are to respect those older than themselves as well as their peers, and to be kind to those younger than themselves. A consequence of their long lifespans and their belief that children are a gift from God, and raising a child is the highest privilege one can attain, most families are massive. Children learn from their parents in most cases, but if they express interest in something their parents aren't as familiar with, their father will find someone he trusts that is able to teach them. If either of them are able, at least one of the child's parents will learn alongside their child.
As I said, I can hardly go in depth here without making this post book-length, but you hopefully have a good idea of the way they live.
Unique weapons: When a young man comes of age, he is given a sword (called a kinsword, at least until I can think of a better name), on the hilt of which is his family rune or symbol. The blade of a kinsword is wrought of a mysterious metal by dwarves, who weave magic into them, making them indestructible. A ranger's kinsword is second only to the owner's very identity, they cannot be replaced.
These swords are also similar to Bilbo's short sword sting in that they sometimes glow a dull blue and when 'aroused', when glowing, they burn hot to the touch of any hand but the owner's.
Special abilities: Rangers have always had (rather, they received it when they were young as a people group) a deeper connection to creation and other creatures, they find it easier to learn another language and understand foreign body language. They are also simply a very discerning people.
But after fleeing the all but destroyed island of Viuden and arriving in Vosmerre (a narnia-esque territory), God gifts them again with a sort of energy that they can use in great need. It is sort of an aura that surrounds each individual, but is so far in the background most of the time that no one notices it.
The aura is used sometimes to camouflage the owner (a dark colored cloak helps with this), it can also help two rangers sense one another.
In combat, a ranger is able to use his 'aura' to 'charge' his kinsword (if, like many rangers, he is using two swords, only his kinsword will be charged) with a surge of energy that, depending on the amount of force used, can knock an enemy back, or permanently paralyze or kill it. The drawback to this power is that it takes a toll on the user's energy, the 'average' ranger can muster the power to temporarily paralyze three large opponents in one day, but would only do so if he didn't expect a long battle afterward.
Thank you to those of you that made it all the way through! I feel like I barely scratched the surface on these people, so please ask any questions that come to mind, or just post your comments.
