Here we have Arvindia, my main country! This is the country that Red Sea Rising is set in, and is arguably my favorite one.
I've only recently started developing my countries so that they wouldn't be carbon copies of each other

So, here goes. This may be rather long, so... you've been warned!
Quote:
Language- The common language, known as Erasthinian
Culture- The culture of Arvindia is largely the Erasthinian culture, since they were originally from Erasthinia. Erasthinia, in turn, was greatly influenced in architecture and art by Belvia, and in government by Bynthybria and Rinadrion. They are a monarchy, and put great stock in council, as well as nobility.
Country- The country is a large island, with many scattered villages and towns, and a few large cities. Aralay is the royal city, where the palace is situated.
Races- Arvindia mainly has only humans. They are a secluded country and have little contact with the outer world except in trade. They make few alliances.
Trade- Arvindia is a well known exporter of fine wine, as well as wheat and silver. They import very little besides gold, which is not found in Arvindia.
Educational system- The royalty and nobility are very educated, while the commoners are left to educate their own children as they wish. It is a requirement that the crown prince be able to speak the three important languages: Erasthinian (common), Belvian (dwarven), and Lecartian.
The men of trade make up a very small percent: Silversmiths, painters, architects, physicians, royal clothiers, jewelers, etc.
The nobility make up the smallest part of the people. There are minor noblemen, court noblemen, and advisors. The advisors are the most powerful, and have the king’s ear. The court noblemen mainly live near the palace. The minor noblemen have their own estate and servants. The advisors usually have an estate but do not live in it, as they are there to council the king. Instead, they have large manor houses in the city with plenty of servants provided to them by the king.
The royalty consist of: the king and his family, and his relations: brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts, grandchildren, etc.
Religion- The religion of Arvindia is usually nominally the worship of Enderel, the creator. Another religion would be the worship of ‘the spirits’, and yet another the practice of the black arts.
Architectural style- Somewhat Baroque: rounded, gilded, tall; a bit of Greek style as well, with elegant pillars. Influenced heavily by Belvian architecture.
Art- Very idealistic, slightly romantic in tone and colors. Statues are rarely made. Only one statue of Rollendin the First exists, in the palace in Aralay.
Music- Music in Arvindia is very string-oriented: harps, lutes, etc. The voice is also popular; usually both instrumental and vocal music is simple. Poetry is written about almost everything, from farming to heroic deeds. A capella singing was rare until Gaelrin, son of Eldren, took the throne. Choir and multi-voice music was not used very much until that time as well, and was then based in large part on Rinadrion war-singing.
Landscape- The Arvindian landscape greatly varies from region to region. There are few mountains, the most famous being the three Goblingulf Mountains which stand about in the middle of the country. A great part of the interior is made up of valleys and hills, and good soil for farmland. The western portion is rocky and arid, home to the great city of Erra Metarra. The southern portion has a mountain range in the higher part, and swamps and forests in abundance in the lower part. The eastern part has a lot of forests (mostly needle pines and firs), waterfalls, and plains. Most of the wildlife lives in this section of the country. The northern part is wild and hilly, with strong winds most of the year. The Ice Plateau is a long stretch of land that is covered with ice year round.
Arvindia is bordered on the east by the Red Sea, and on the west by the Erasthinian Sea.
Military-Although Rinadrion is the main military power in that part of the world, Arvindia borrowed little from it; war-singing (which was not reserved exclusively for battle in Arvindia) and ranking in the army being the main ones. For the most part, Arvindia had a very loose military, with no actual army unless they were at war, and the country as a whole had little knowledge of weapons.
Royalty- The royal family goes back to Rollendin the First, who was commander of the Royal Fleet of Erasthinia, and led the Erasthinians in their escape from the sorcerer who had conquered their land. The king has a great deal of power and is usually highly respected. Although a prince may, in certain circumstances, marry a craftsman's daughter or commoner, a princess may only marry a nobleman's son or a prince of another country.
Ceremonies/holidays- A feast is held once a year in celebration of the landing in Arvindia.
Birthdays are celebrated.
The beginning of harvest is marked by a festival.
All children under twelve years of age born on the birthday of the crown prince are given a small gift on the prince’s birthday.
