Angillis
The Angillis are protectors, or at least, that's what they've been known as for ages. You could call them magicians, but their powers are given to them and may be taken at any time. The giver of these powers is known as the Master of the Angillis; one of the many names for the God-like being in the world.
Normally, an Angillis is given to a town who has need of one, thus, there are many Angillis in the world, but only one per village/town/city. In fact, with war, there are few towns who do not give house to an Angillis. When an Angillis is the protector of a town, their duty is to assist in defending that town from raids and occasionally assist in offensive attacks.
There is currently nothing limiting the powers of an Angillis beyond what their own mind can conjure and the will of the Master. Most Angillis can wield their power with mere words, though some prefer do it with motions or thoughts. They do not speak in a special language, calling upon their power is more like giving a prayer.
Not all Angillis are good. They started out that way, but as years have gone by, the quarrels of the people have affected them. These days, an Angillis will focus on gaining power; both more of their own and over other people. Instead of emitting hope, people have begun to fear the Angillis and their powers.
