The Magic:

Magic is gifted to the people by Azéan, the creator god. The magic he gifts can be used for good or evil depending on what the gifted person decides to do. Since Azéan give his people freedom of choice, they can decide how it is used. Powerful magicians can control emotions, and least one keeps their guard up, they can be easily become confused and disoriented, making themselves vulnerable. Gifted ones are not affected by the curse, but can be affected by the power of controlling emotions. However, after the curse, very few were gifted, lest the power gifted by Azéan be abused.

The one thing that came to mind that seemed to "fit" with your magic is an 'invisible magic'. Like what Gandalf and Saruman use to fight each other in Orthanc in the movie version of The Fellowship of the Ring.

I think I shall develop that idea more go with it. At one point my one MC gets first very sad then angry during a battle, and uses her magic wipe out the enemy because the magic is fueled by her anger. Or something like that. Anyway, I think that would be cool how she could just wave her arm or staff and they would go flying through the air. I'll work on it some more.

That sounds like a fun scene.

It's going to be so sad when her brother dies.....
