Thanks, Jonathan and Eru! Eru, I am now quite curious about it too.... I just did that when I made the map because I ran out of room, but I could go somewhere with that.... eruheran wrote: Where does that cut-off landmass go to? Who is on it and why are they cut off? Mysteries.... The "Who is on it and why are they cut off" part especially.... It would be used in my book or when I write the History to the Vian Islands. |

Two things: One: You should know that Valdemar is also (already) the name of the country in which a major fantasy series by Mercedes Lackey is set. Not that this is necessarily sufficient reason to change it immediately Two: The format of your world map, with dotted-line borders and a small landmass meeting the edge of the map, made me smile. I have a map (of a world into which my series will take an unexpected side trip at some point) that looks very similar in how it's made (though very different in content, of course---mine is all isolated continents that look like islands because of the scale, each with only a very few countries). And I've always been fond of stories where a county is bordered by the world's end, or by a country in another world, or by Fairyland, or something. (In the main world I write in, there's a building at the edge of the world that is the sole known physical gate to heaven.) What are the countries in the middle of your continent like? (Levoz, Eadoin, etc.) Do they get some particular benefit from being centrally located, to make up for being landlocked? |

Kingjon, I have never heard of Mercedes Lackey. I will consider changing it, but, seeing as it is not made up, it is an actual word meaning ruler in Scandinavian, I don't think I'll change it...not yet anyway Hmm...Levoz, Tarala, and Eadoin are tough ones.... Really I have not explored them yet and know nothing about them. This is my first novel and I am very inexperienced, so please, forgive me for not being able to answer that question. How do you go about writing the history and details for your book? I really know nothing about that type of stuff. I'll take all the advise I can get! |

For writing a history I would advise reading the Silmarilian. It's a pretty good example on how to write history well, and get to know the do and do not do ways to write history....and it's also a good book |

Yay! Alina, you posted that maps! I have seen them before, but now I think it makes even more sense now. They look good! Boy, that's a big world.... |

Just thought I would mention that there's a fairly popular secular fantasy series by Mercedes Lackey called The Heralds of Valdemar that takes place in the mythical kingdom of Valdemar. |
