Hello everyone! My world where my current book takes place in is called Terra (That's a temporary name, so if anyone has suggestions, please, suggest away!) My main character is Alina Cabrera (Or Lanna Cabrera, whichever you prefer) I am still developing my world, so please ask questions, and whatever suggestions is appreciated. My book is currently taking place in Valdemar, hence the separate map of Valdemar.

My islands surrounding my main-land are; The Vian Islands, Elkan Island, The Cargan Islands, Ilam Island, Ennis Island.
I haven't really thought over what these Islands should be like, any advice is welcome, please!

The Kingdoms on my main-land are; (starting from top left, working my way across the rows) Barak, Sloane, Cala, Dylan, (Which I renamed, that's why it is hard to read.) Zale, Levoz, Tarala, Darva, Eadoin, Valdemar, Gwylan, Illais, Chantal, Diata, Visola, and Yael.

Barak, Zale, Levoz, Gwylan, and Yael are more Viking kingdoms.
Chantal, Tarala, and Darva are more nobles and upper-class types.
Valdemar, Eadoin, Dylan, Illais, Diata, Visola, and Sloane are just ruled by one city (Which the Kingdom is usually named after) and the rest of the Kingdom is made up of villages, towns, and smaller cities.

You may have noticed that Dylan and Gwylan are very similar sounding names, and all we know about this is as long as anyone can remember Dylan thought Gwylan stole Dylan's name and Gwylan thought the exact same thing, and really, no one knows what actually happened.

That's all I've thought up for my world so far. Thanks for reading this! And if you have any suggestions, advice, or any comment, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Excellent maps. :) The Vinn Islands struck my curiosity especially, though. Where does that cut-off landmass go to? Who is on it and why are they cut off? Mysteries....

Thanks, Jonathan and Eru!

Eru, I am now quite curious about it too.... I just did that when I made the map because I ran out of room, but I could go somewhere with that.... :dieshappy: Do you mind if I use what you said there,

The "Who is on it and why are they cut off" part especially.... It would be used in my book or when I write the History to the Vian Islands.

Two things: One: You should know that Valdemar is also (already) the name of the country in which a major fantasy series by Mercedes Lackey is set. Not that this is necessarily sufficient reason to change it immediately :), let alone cause for panic, but you should consider.

Two: The format of your world map, with dotted-line borders and a small landmass meeting the edge of the map, made me smile. I have a map (of a world into which my series will take an unexpected side trip at some point) that looks very similar in how it's made (though very different in content, of course---mine is all isolated continents that look like islands because of the scale, each with only a very few countries). And I've always been fond of stories where a county is bordered by the world's end, or by a country in another world, or by Fairyland, or something. (In the main world I write in, there's a building at the edge of the world that is the sole known physical gate to heaven.)

What are the countries in the middle of your continent like? (Levoz, Eadoin, etc.) Do they get some particular benefit from being centrally located, to make up for being landlocked?

Kingjon, I have never heard of Mercedes Lackey. I will consider changing it, but, seeing as it is not made up, it is an actual word meaning ruler in Scandinavian, I don't think I'll change it...not yet anyway

Hmm...Levoz, Tarala, and Eadoin are tough ones.... Really I have not explored them yet and know nothing about them. o.O
This is my first novel and I am very inexperienced, so please, forgive me for not being able to answer that question.

How do you go about writing the history and details for your book? I really know nothing about that type of stuff. I'll take all the advise I can get! :D

For writing a history I would advise reading the Silmarilian. It's a pretty good example on how to write history well, and get to know the do and do not do ways to write history....and it's also a good book :dieshappy:

This passive righteousness is a mystery that someone who does not know Jesus cannot understand. In fact, Christians do not completely understand it and rarely take advantage of it in their daily lives..When there is any fear or our conscience is bothered, it is a sign that our 'passive' righteousness is out of sight and Christ is hidden.
The person who wander away from 'passive' righteousness has no other choice but to live by 'works' righteousness. If he does not depend on the work of Christ, he must depend on his own work.So we must teach and continually repeat the truth of this 'passive' or 'Christian' righteousness so that Christians continue to hold to it and never confuse it with 'works' righteousness - Martin Luther

Yay! Alina, you posted that maps! I have seen them before, but now I think it makes even more sense now. They look good! Boy, that's a big world....

Just thought I would mention that there's a fairly popular secular fantasy series by Mercedes Lackey called The Heralds of Valdemar that takes place in the mythical kingdom of Valdemar.
