| Post subject: | Krogs |
After much internal debate of whether I should place this race in Bestiary or Peoples, Races and Tribes I finally made my decision as you can obviously see. The race of Krogs are the means of force used by the primary antagonist in TTS, this race is commonly referred to as either animals, a race or neither because of its demented origins. Not knowing what to make of them; wise men and scholars who witnessed one or many concocted rumors and theories to explain their sudden existence. But I will tell you the truth. First of all, their origins. One of the shields that had power over the known world was stolen by a corrupted Visi named Chariss and in his attempt to spread his corruption and dominion over the world he used the shield to remake all it had in its power after him and in his image. At the time a great war was being held in its dominion and the combatants of that war were remade into his image and became Krogs. These combatants, who were both Men, Elves, Gnomes and Giants became deformed and degenerated to serve their new dark lord. During the dementation (The event at which this occurred which I am bound to rename) the power of the shield gave their souls to the user, removing their free will. This connected their minds and gave their collective power to Chariss who can command them to their mind from wherever he is. This gives the krogs a hive mentality and are able to act as if in one body because they are being controlled by others. Chariss is able to see what they see at any time, any where giving him the ability to see many places in the world. However the shield was used indirectly on his brother giving him the same ability but he disappeared on the same day the dementation occurred at the burning of the king's council building. In the dementation most of their mind was consumed in its power giving them unquenchable thirsts such as the thirst to kill and the thirst to maim. At The dementation the people living in its dominion died. They are only kept alive by the power of the shield. Their bodies are no longer living, they are walking dead, controlled by Chariss. They do not eat, they do not sleep, they do not drink; the Shield keeps them alive. Their bodies are decaying matter and many of the weaker or more beaten krogs have lost limbs or fallen apart. Krogs have a brown or red color to their skin, almost having the same texture and color as burnt flesh. Their bodies are emancipated from not eating anything and their bones are almost always sticking out from their skin. Their teeth are pointed and decaying and their hair is either gone or falling out. Because of their animal like characteristics the walk with back bent close to the ground and are constantly looking for something to destroy. There are four types of krogs: the first is the Gnome Krog (It is not called that though, I am calling it that so you can understand what I am talking about) formed from what used to be a gnome. These Krogs are small and slender whereas giant krogs are large and almost troll like. Elf krogs are taller than a man and emancipated looking while Man krogs look similar. In battle, krogs swarm together to fight the enemy, giving them power in numbers rather than in skill or tactics. Their invasion tactics are designed to overwhelm the enemy and not give it time enough to recover its forces after an attack. Krogs used simple and worn weapons forged by weapon smiths in krog, these are made cheaply and simply with no embellishments or enhancements, just made simply to kill and destroy. Krogs are never alone in battle, they must always have a non-krog leader so that they do not become unruly or do anything impulsive. Krogs have no permanent residence, they move and fight endlessly, not needing rest or a home. They communicate through their hive mind and do not need to speak to each other. Well, I am sure I am missing something. I know I will be reminded soon enough. So there it is, any questions? Suggestions? Comments? |

O.O Those sound very creepy! I would hate to run into a pack of them on a dark night, for sure! You mentioned that they use simple weapons. What sort of weapons? Just whatever they can get their hands on that can kill? Did you realize that Chariss is an actual girl name in our world? |

Quote: You mentioned that they use simple weapons. What sort of weapons? Just whatever they can get their hands on that can kill? Pretty much that. Axes, knives, swords, anything they can carry. Quote: Did you realize that Chariss is an actual girl name in our world? Do you mean the name Carys? I had a friend with that name when I told them about my ultimate evil (they are writers too) when her mother told me "You are naming your evil overlord after our daughter?" or something like that. If you mean the actual verbatim (Not being a very accurate interpretation in this sense) name Chariss then I would need to know. |

Chariss is a variant spelling of it, and there are people that use it. |

Out of curiosity, what aspect of these creatures caused you to debate over where they should be placed so much? |

They were previously people and have the form and shape of people but their mind has been devoured to the point where they are like animals and without any humanity or sophistication left. Does that answer your question? |

By the way, in old fashioned Greek (the kind used in the Bible) Charis means grace... just saying... |
