| I'm putting this in Peoples, Races, and Tribes because these are sentient dragons and not really animals. If a mod feels it would be better in the Bestiary, though, go ahead and move it. Rhoive is my primary fantasy world. There are dragons, but I don't actually know much about them. They're large, probably somewhere around the size of a house, but not enormous. They're also highly intelligent. They prefer to avoid people. I think I originally had them living together in families/clans, but now I'm thinking they'd hunt that area clean too quickly. So they will probably be at least somewhat solitary. At least some dragons are guarding a portal to another world. Anyway, questions and suggestions would be very welcome. | |

| Can they communicate with each other or other races? | |

| Yes. They can definitely communicate with each other, and I think they can use human languages as well. | |

| What kind of architecture or buildings and structures do they have? Do they live in caves? Trees? | |

| Can they fly? Can they talk? How dangerous are they? Are they smart enough to engineer anything, or create tools? What colors are they normally? Are they good or evil? Or just neutral? What do they normally eat? Does anything hunt them? Is it possible to ride them? | |

| Aeleknight wrote: What kind of architecture or buildings and structures do they have? Do they live in caves? Trees? Caves. I don't believe they're capable of actually building anything; their limbs aren't made for that. They might be able to shape the inside of their caves using fire, though... Svensteel priest of Kylor wrote: Can they fly? Yes. They are winged dragons, and quite capable of using them. Svensteel priest of Kylor wrote: Can they talk? I think so. I might end up changing it to something more like telepathy, however. Svensteel priest of Kylor wrote: How dangerous are they? Very. Think big predator with very sharp teeth and plenty of cunning. Svensteel priest of Kylor wrote: Are they smart enough to engineer anything, or create tools? Smart enough? Probably. But they aren't like humans with hands and opposable thumbs. Physically, I think they're incapable of creating tools. With human help, though... Svensteel priest of Kylor wrote: What colors are they normally? I'm going to say green, black, brown, or gray. The underside is usually a lighter shade than the rest of the body. Svensteel priest of Kylor wrote: Are they good or evil? Or just neutral? Mmm...generally good, although some are probably neutral and there might be some evil ones as well. There is no one "alignment" that they all follow. Svensteel priest of Kylor wrote: What do they normally eat? Meat. They aren't very picky about what type of meat. In an emergency, plants are acceptable, but hardly preferable. Svensteel priest of Kylor wrote: Does anything hunt them? Not that I know of. Humans might, on occasion, try. The region of the world might affect that; the primary place I know of where dragons are, people don't hunt dragons. Svensteel priest of Kylor wrote: Is it possible to ride them? If you can convince one to let you, yes. Trying to ride without asking is a good way to get hurt. Svensteel priest of Kylor wrote: | |

| Hey, these are smart dragons. They're not going to let people think of them like horses, just there to carry some weight. | |

| Have you thought about their eating habits, Leandra? I know you said they eat meat, but do they have three square meals a day? In my book, my Diegose basically gorge themselves, storing the food and feeding off that supply for a week. They can eat if an opportunity affords them that luxury, but it is not necessary. Have you thought about the habits of eating? | |

Have you thought about the habits of eating? Ooh. No, I haven't thought about that. It'll probably be something similar to what you said; eat a lot every so often and live off of that, but I'll give it more thought and see what I come up with. | |

| Okay, I think I may have figured out their eating habits. Preference is to eat something (not sure how much, but it's not so much as to be gorging) every day, except for in winter. This is because when they do eat to the point of gorging, they have to go sleep it off like snakes and they prefer to save that for the winter when they'd rather not leave their caves as much anyway. | |
