The Vách are odd beings of silence and darkness. These beasts were contained by the Skreek race eons ago (okay, it wasn't eons but it sounds cool, 'kay?). Not much was heard of when they were locked under the earth...

Some say that they used to look like normal inhabitants of Rantis, but their imprisonment in their secret prison have fouled their souls and their bodies have grown more bestial... (I'm kinda thinking of the transition of Elves to Orks, or however you spell it, from Lord of the Rings.) The Vách used to be Skatros or Skreeks who had dabbled too deep into Satanic magic and became fouled by its use. An epidemic of this misuse caused them to congrigate and ravage the land. Their fur/feather coating changed color even to signify their change to a whole new creature.

There is a legend of a hero named Aros who locked their leader into a deep abyss, along with all of his underlings. They remain locked away this day, the name Aros being a common name in Yana'ra, from where Aros was rumored to have come from. The Vách are said to now be one race, having bred between the two races they came from, the humanoid-griffen Skreek and the huge-hawk Skatros, becoming something vulgar and stomach-clenching (This was before the Valloian's migrated from their underground country below the mountains). Their imprisonment away from the light make them sensitive to the sun's rays and they are half-blind. They have nothing in their minds except a rage towards the races of the light and the light itself.

Those who have continued to dabble into the dark magic have the ability to summon these creatures from their prison via teleportation to do as the commander wills. Eventually, the master usually becomes a Vách himself if he delves too deep into the dark.

The name Vách comes from the literal translation of "cursed" in Skrac. There are several types of this race, the winged lions, or Tiel (mutated Skreeks), the vultures, or Levias (mutated Skatros), and the strongest of the bunch, the ground-bound burrowing hybrids, the dreaded Wissils. All of these creatures are distinguishable from the other races from their inky black fur/feathers and the ink-like residue that drools from their mouths. The Tiel are the muscle, the Tiel are the eyes, and the Wissils are the stealth and surprise.

Their leader is referred as The Master. He's a Levia... With the strength of ten Tiel.

Wow, these sound really cool, Sea! A fascinating race. :D It's neat how they changed to more beast-like after being locked underground. The whole thing is a neat concept. :D

I finally made it in here! :D Sorry, Birdie. I'd have answered sooner if my computer had let me. But I'm HERE NOW, so let us rejoice! ;)

Anywhoot, I like your ideas, here. :D I think them becoming more beast-like from their confinement is very realistic. :) I also liked the part where you mentioned if the leader went too deep into the darkness he would become one of them. :) Excellent ideas, Birdie! Bravo! :D

Hehe... I'll tell you my secret to my success...

You see, I read in a book that you don't exactly have to make something up entirely. If someone has an awesome idea, it's okay to mimic it in a few ways. How else would it be so popular?

Anyway, I based it upon the Heartless in Kingdom Hearts. These are the hearts of those who have been taken by the darkness. They are beastly and go after those with darkness in their hearts. Those they overcome become Heartless themselves and become prisoners to darkness. I've never seen anything that suggests that their 'leader' of present have drowned in their darkness except Maleficent... But she doesn't become a Heartless. She dies momentarily. I mean c'mon... Maleificent never really dies. She's too epic for that.

But I tried to change it so that it wouldn't appear like I was copying it. But I can see why adapting epic concepts from other stories can help mine. People have written so many books that it's okay to manipulate their ideas into your own creation. Same thing goes for plotline as well.

Thank you for your compliments.

Probably one of the best games series ever released on the PS2 platform. :)

I have played the games several times, and reading the description of your race did not remind me of the Heartless at all. Going back I can see it now, but you definitely did a good enough job separating your idea from the original. Well done.

Yes. They did release it in manga form for some of the other games. I'll read them at some point. (duh. Kingdom Hearts fangirl here) *pokes* Let's move this back to the topic now please. :)

Sho' thang, Ma'am. ;)

So, the Vach look like a cross between griffins and hawks? *Wonders how one might draw that*

Well, the Teil look like winged lions. The Levias look like vultures. The Wissils are the odd mix... Even I'm not sure how to draw them.

Like I said... The Vách consist of three classes, but are still all the same race somehow.

I have two things to say to that,

- *sighs in relief* I'm glad its original enough
- WOOT! KINGDOM HEARTS IS EPIC!!! *wants a 3DS just so she can play the new game coming out but is saving for a good camera instead* :P
