There were originally thirteen High Dragons in Tira. At the point which my series begins, one of them has already been slain. They are malevolent creatures of immense power. All of them look entirely different from any of the others. All have somewhat unique goals. High Dragons are one of the largest creatures on Araeth, most reaching lengths more than one-hundred and ninety feet, similar to the largest sauropods found today. I'm not entirely sure about the proportions, but I believe that in order to fly they would require a wingspan of at least four hundred feet. ...That is one big animal... In any case all of the High Dragons speak both the human tongue and the Elder tongue. The Elder tongue is the language spoken by the angelic/demonic worlds. Though not truly demons or angels, powerful beings such as Dragons or Phoenixes are also referred to as Elders. And those are the basics...

Now then, the crazy and unpronounceable names I've come up with! Let me know what you guys think of them. (Or if you have any trouble pronouncing them. *grins*)

Aaellock’Vennroth

Agxlearieack

Argothunnrama

Ashkoth’Baalenor

Enbarrothor

Mocktanaroth

Mothag’Aklear

Ogtherrodoss

Oouthokrog’Onbale

Oushann’Akbale

Rausgoth’Uthamos

Rothaglaironn

Malchor’ Rogoth

 :dieshappy:

 That's huge... Awesome! :D

I love the way the names look and sound, but I did have problems pronouncing a few. :P Then again, I occasionally have problems pronouncing the most basic words in the English language, so just ignore that. ;)

Why did you choose these names for them? Do they mean something in particular?

Impressive list, Tears! I could pronounce them fairly easily after an initial sounding-out. So in terms of pronounceability you're fine. My one comment would be, do you expect your reader to be able to distinguish between/remember ALL those names? Because...just in terms of myself, I don't think I'd be able to. Maybe if you linked one specific characteristic with each name. But just be considering the reader's memory limitations when you reference one of these dragons!

Well, I guess I'm in luck then, within my four book series I only ever mention two. ^_^

I love complex names. These are fantastic! And I found I could pronounce most of them. Great job!

Well you are braver than me, sir. My Diegose (dragonish creatures of my invention) do not have that complicated of names. :D

I only had trouble pronouncing two: Agxlearieack and Oouthokrog’Onbale. Triple vowels throw me. :P I really love how you made all those names sound like they were from the same language. Way to go!

I pronounced them agzleeriak and ah-oothokrog onbeyl, but I do not know if that is correct.

Rothaglaironn and Malchor’ Rogoth are my favorites.

Make sure you know your readers are expecting to not try hard to pronounce the names, even if they can if they try. I would put maybe a pronunciation chart somewhere if you could for readers, I like to do that at the front of my books as a forward, let's say; I put names of people and a bit about them and how to pronounce their name in the front :dieshappy:
