Hey all, during a chat battle between my main Character Rayden and Ms Kondrael's Kai... It became apparent that a bit more understanding of my supernatural system might make these chat battles a little more realistic.
Firstly, before getting into the systems of Glithis it would help to point out that only a few people of a certain combat career or "Class" are allowed learn certain aspects of it.
The main classes taught are:
Nightblade: Rangers of the shadows, preferring the dark which is their home. Deft with not only long blades but also with daggers. My Main Character, having been a thief for most of his life took to the Nightblade ways easily. Their Glithis taught is mainly used for stealth. Though they as everyone else can learn the combat aspects if they so choose.
Battleward: The heavy troops. Preferring heavy weapons and armor. Secondary Character Bris had an encounter with Elanhil which ended in truce. A Battleward's powers are used mainly for increasing their strength, endurance, or speed. Also in augmenting their weapons.
Shadowshaft: Ranged troops. Preferring bows. Secondary Character (Which none have encountered yet) Wrasse does not often use his bow. His mother being well versed in Glithis he was taught many aspects of it. Shadowshaft Glithis is mainly used to augment their arrows for devastating effects.
Alchemist/Spagyric: The healers, scientists and eccentrics. Are the most well versed in Glithis. Generally being of a weaker build but with strong minds they can be devastating when it comes to combat. Their Glithis is mainly used for healing, drawing out poisons and mending wounds. But all of this order learn as much combat Glithis as possible.
Thundersoul: Specifically combat Glithis. The only class allowed to learn everything Glithis and rain destruction upon the heads of their foes.
Systems of Glithis.
Before I begin, the word system for Glithis works in this way. The mind is trained to react upon hearing certain words then forcing their effects.
For instance, a character is focusing on a foe. He says two words: "Corpus Leviton." His foe then lifts into the air.
Corpus = Physical body. Leviton = Lift/Levitate.
By using different combinations of words you can create several different effects.
For one, Windwalking it is called. He who wishes to initiate simply focuses upon oneself and says "Corpus Aryas" Upon hearing these words, his faith empowered mind then forces air between his every particle, letting his static spirit keep them somewhat together. He then directs the air where he wants it to go.
This does however put a tremendous strain on the mind and to some extent drains their physical strength. In the Battleward's case when the glithis used to increase their strength wears off, they are much much weaker for a period of time dependant upon how much they attempted to increase it.
Too much Glithis in too short a time will result in passing out, brain hemorrhoids and in extreme cases extremely violent death.
This is kind of a long post, so I'll close with my list of Glithis phrases:
Aquaris: (Aqu-ar-is) Water.
Aryas: (Ar-ias) Air.
Corpus: (Corp-us) Body.
Cryranis: (Cry-ran-is) Ice.
Dispersa: (Dis-purse-uh) Spread out, disperse
Dynornis: (Die-nor-nis) Lightning.
Eruptis: (E-rupt-iss) Rise violently.
Geomag: (Jay-o-mag) Stone, or anything related to earth.
Halen: (Hail-en) Heal.
Hurricas: (Her-i-cuss) Spin, revolve, orbit.
Ignari: (Ig-na-ry) Fire.
Itemar: (I-tem-ar) Used when one does not know the substance of his target.
Leviton: (Lev-ih-ton) Rise, lift, or float.
Magninus: (Mag-nyn-us) Enlarge.
Midas: (Midd-oss) Partical, or small.
Planar: (Play-nar) Sheet or shield.
Sinar: (Syn-ar) Physical strength.
Spiresting: (Spy-er-sting) Spike, thorn.
Verbolen: (Verb-o-lin) Shatter
Simply combine the words to create what you want.
