Lupis are wolf-like creatures that have been slightly mutated to increase their hunting capabilities. While their sense of smell has been taken from them they are still excellent trackers, quick on their feet and good at spotting small areas that have recently been trampled upon.

They are not nocturnal beast and would prefer to track during the day, but when they have found their target they usually attack at night. It is best to keep out of the way of Lupi if you can since there are few and lucky that can fend off a pack of them.

Lupis live in packs, but are no way a close knit family. They have been said to eat the corpse of a dead Lupi (due to their ravenous nature it is best to keep food off the ground to keep from attracting them.).

As for appearance; most Lupis have black hair with specks of gray. Their fur is very rough, no way pleasurable. They have either dark red or bright orange eyes and large claws. Their body shape is that of a wolf except for a hunch in their back that would appear to lessen their speed though it does not. Upon closer observation you will also notice they have two large canine teeth, used for attacking their prey.

That would be all I know about the Lupi. :) Thanks for reading!

Wow I like these Bethy. They sound like amazing but frightening creatures. :D You sound like you have them well worked out; so do they live in forests?

Haha, I do?...well..."well worked out" could be a little bit of a stretch.

Yes, most of them live in forests. :D

Do any Lupis live in the mountains?

I would...but the name has grown on me and I rather like Latin.

Mm...I'm not sure...I don't believe so. There is another race that sort of takes the place of the Lupis in mountainous terrain..but I haven't developed those yet.

These creatures seem really cool but I have to agree with Inesdar. Lupis is just too obvious a name for them.

Are they sentient? Some parts make it sound like they are and others, like they aren't. I like the name, although I did not enjoy Latin. :P Why was their smell taken from them?

Yes, they are, but they are also under the control of the antagonistic characters...so they're sentient, but don't have free will. If that makes sense.

When they joined sides with Pavix they were changed to have no sense of smell. Sort of a punishment for going against Elah.

That sounds like my category called "Wise Beasts"

I would not advise renaming them unless you are trying to make a world without any influence from the Familiarworld:

an Independent Otherworld.

Like Iniel.

However, Middle-Earth and Narnia are not Independent, so you do not need to make a completely independent Otherworld.

I'm having trouble understanding how they could function without a sense of smell. That's a dog/wolf's primary sense. How do they track without it? How do they compensate for not having it?

With great eye sight and impeccable hearing. But not having a sense of smell can cause hurdles for them at times...
