I created my first race today, so beg my pardon if some things seem sketchy. I don't usually come up with fantasy creatures from scratch considering I know a limited amount about the ones that are already invented. I seriously just came up with them too, so bare with me as I put into correct grammar the paragraph I just jotted down in my notebook.

Tiny disclaimer: No they aren't psychics, telepaths, or telecansisasises....that probably isn't a word. Anyways, here is my little history lesson on them.

-----

The Orniro race came from the Eastern Mountains. Our history is not well known, for we are not good scholars nor do we strive to be. We are not musicians, or astronomers, we are warriors. Known for our exceptional battle skills and highly advanced weaponry. We come out in times of war and fight for the side that is right. Then we scurry back into our mountain caves and do not show ourselves to any other race. We are the unknown source of the dreams, never to be discovered by a mortal. We have the power to place a dream in the mind of a star. We can show this star the past, present, and future. It is commanded that we only use this dream in times of great distress, to call for help. In the event we use our power the dream will go to the star that was created for us, the star that we would be married to if they were of our race. It is said that every one of us has our star and that one day we shall meet them. The few who met their stars have a lovely family. And beautiful Orniro children.

Our forefathers fled from the Eastern Mountains a thousand years ago. The Black Dwarves had started a war with the Dragons. We did not interfere with the fight since we found it frivolous to battle over land. The dragons lost the battle with the Black Dwarves, nobody is sure why, and chose the Eastern Mountains as their new home. We could not be seen by the Dragon Race, lest we engage in a war. So we fled to the forest and have not left it's darkness since then. The chosen few who have seen us do not know of our history, and the ones that know of our history do not speak of it and the ones that speak of it, are not to be spoken of. We live amongst the beasts and away from the speaking races. We have become excellent hunters and brilliant builders, though our talents still lack theology, music, and grammar.

A third of our race has been divided and cast out of the forest. For they use their powers for their own gain. They have called upon their stars and stolen them from the skies. We call them the Orniros of darkness, they are despised by the good of our race and we are at war with them. Our battles are hidden, and no other race has current knowledge of our war. We keep our fighting from the sight of the world through the use of our spies. They are sent out to infiltrate and sabotage the Darkness' camps. The downfall of this is that we loose our spies quickly when they are discovered. As of today 2-16-1067 we have only lost one of our spies. We are working on methods to abstract him.

It may have seemed to end suddenly, but that's because that's all I got... Well I hope you enjoyed it. If you have any suggestions or questions, I'm all ears :D err...eyes. Thanks for reading!

Right, I forgot to mention that  Anyways, if you want to know, they look like humans with the exception of the gray hue they have in their eyes and olive colored skin. :)

These are really cool. I always like secret groups waging a shadow war against a dark foe.

So they're waging a war against a force also unknown to most? How did they come around before they fled? How does no one know about them if they originated where other races were? And what are their stars? That part kinda confused me.

Yes, their war is very discreet so no other race knows about it.

I'm not entirely sure if I understand this question. Do you think you could rephrase it, please?

Griffin wrote:

They never really lived amongst the other races, they've always been well hidden; only coming out in times of great need. So no other race really knows much about them, they are sort of like legends. Folklore that nobody believes.

Well, when I say stars I mean sort of Narnia stars. Each Orniro has a star that was created for them, this is the only star they can communicate with. They can give dreams, but only to their star. This would also be why stars believe that none of their dreams are by coincidence.

Okay, thanks. I meant how did they begin?

*thinks* Hmm...well, I'm not entirely sure, I haven't developed this particular world that far yet and that has to do a lot with how I create my world. I'm guessing they were created with the other races, since their creation they've been good with being covert and they have been more advanced as far as military technology. Therefore, they didn't want anyone to use their technology for evil so they hid from the other races, hoping to be forgotten.
