I have 9 types of Dragons in my "Epic" In or order of largest to smallest. 1.Great dragons. These are very large, up to 50 feet in length (not including tail), they come in several colors, but the most common colors are green, red and grey. Great dragons have a very complicated culture and they live for about 300 years. They are hoarders and do not like to live together. They do breathe fire and are capable of speech. Great dragons only live on the island of Vaed. They are capable of flight 2. Morthg dragons are about the size of two oxen and very round and stocky. They are easily tamed and used as farm animals or hitched to wagons. They are a dull green, are not intelligent, and can not breathe fire. They do not have wings and probably couldn't fly anyway being so heavy. 3. Tharnk dragons go upright on 2 legs and are about twice as tall as a man. They are all brown though males have black markings on there heads. They are not intelligent like great dragons and can not speak or breathe fire. They herd in groups of 100-200 and can be quite dangerous. They don't have wings either. 4. Brugnth dragons are about the size of a horse and have very long legs. Other than that, they look about the same as a great dragon. They have very long wings and are the fastest dragon. They come in several colors: blue, white red and black. They are not intelligent but they can breathe fire somewhat. 5. Orgnitnkil dragons are long and snake like; they are about as thick as a man and about 3 times longer. They spit poisonous acid that they kill there prey with. They are multicolored and come in all colors. (think Chinese dragons) 6.Strig dragons are about 5 foot long and are unusual because they glow a pulsating orange light. They are very elusive and not much is know about them. They live in the southern mountains of Orcil and there are not many of them. It is said they are hot to the touch and and breathe liquid fire that is much like Greek fire. (Strig means fire in dwarven so basically they are "fire dragons") 7. Thrig dragons live in the far north and are much like there cousins the Strig dragons, though they are really very opposite. They are bluish white and cold to the touch (so they say). There are not many and they are nocturnal so not many have been studied. 8. Hunter dragons are about the size of a large dog; they are winged, but they rely greatly on their running abilities. They are used much like dogs and make excellent hunters and house guards. They come in black, brown, and grey colors. They have long legs, 3 sharp talons, and a head full of teeth that stick out scarily and it's obvious they are made for tearing. These dragons are very common and are used much. 9. Wydrn dragons are about the size of a ferret and look exactly like a great dragon. They too are intelligent and capable of speech. Unlike great dragons, they have made friends with man and are considered very wise. They can't breathe fire, though, and there wings are clawed. That's a lot of different types of dragons. Do all the names mean something? You said that "Strig" means fire, but didn't say anything about the others. |

Yes it is a lot of dragons, but I want dragons to be a part of the world and have more than just "dragons". I wanted it to be like, "huh, yeah there goes a dragon pulling a cart better get out of the way." sort of thing. Most of there names do mean something. "Morthg" is the name of the dwarf who discovered them. "Tharnk" means "swarm" "Brugnth" is the name of Drikhem's (the dwarf who discovered them) wife. "Orgnitnkil" means "snakelike" "Thrig" means "frost" "Wydrn" means "wisdom" |

They sound great! Do the Orgnitnkil have legs or do they slither and in saying they are like Chinese dragons do you mean that they fly without wings? |

They have four legs but they are not very large so therefore they do a lot of slithering. They don't have wings and cannot fly. They are very slow and can only catch their prey by spitting their poison at them. (I really need to draw these...) |

Yes they do. In fact they have only two weak legs and spend most of their time hovering. |

So about dragons... I have one dragon I've written about, whose name is Farowur. He speaks through people's minds, and they can reply by thinking a message back to him. Of course, what Farowur has to say isn't always appropriate... |
