| Post subject: | "Epic" peoples, races, and tribes |
I will be sharing the various workings of the world of my "Epic" so here goes on people, races, and tribes. There are 5 countries all together in "Epic". Vargon is home to the largest population and is inhabited mostly by humans (though some dwarves live in Vargon, too.) The 3 regions of Vargon have very different people. The most southern region is peopled mostly of rich people and poor people. This region has many large cities full of the poor. Also there are grand estates outside of the cities where the rich abide. In the middle region there are many farms and farmers. This is where all the hard working people that support the nation live. It has good soil and there is great trade in fish from the lake. The northern region is home to pioneer-type people. These are people trying to escape from the hardships of the big cities and there is not any room for them to settle in the middle region. Orcil is home to dwarves. The dwarves have been here much longer than anyone else and they have had much impact on the humans' culture. They do not allow many humans into their land but they do some trade with humans. They are much more technologically advanced than humans and they guard their secrets jealously. Loster is a complete mystery. No one ever comes back from this wild land. It is home to werewolves. (So they say.) Kor is a small kingdom of humans that settled some time ago on the island. They live simple lives and deal little with Vargon. They live in constant dread of the dragons living on the nearby island of Vaed. Norvsgry is a cold land home to blond blue eyed humans. They are renowned warriors but are quite content to live in their land. (Reasons for this will be discussed in the history I plan on writing.) There are 4 races. Human. Dwarf. Werewolf. Great dragon. Humans are the most numerous race. They don't really need much description. Dwarves are roughly 4 feet tall. Most wear beards though a few wear only mustaches. Their women do not grow beards. Their teleology is far advanced from the other races. It would be comparable to the Victorian era and they use guns in warfare. (Very steampunk.) Werewolves. We'll leave them be for a while. Great dragons are the largest of the 9 dragon breeds. They are one of the two dragon breeds that are capable of intelligent thoughts and also have vocal chords that allow them to talk. They do not build or anything like other races though they have a rich culture full of tradition. There are several nomadic tribes living on the Uel plain but we won't go into them yet. Here's a question for you all: do you think I have too few races? Maybe a orc-like race? |

I don't think that's too few races. I don't have very many races in one of my worlds, and my stories that don't take place there frequently have only humans. So I wouldn't add a race just to have another one. |

Well I was thinking of doing this because my world right now seems too mundane. And I thought adding another race that lives alongside the humans would be interesting. Plus there is no magic in this world. Did all this make any sense to anyone? Are there any big inconsistencies? Anything anyone would like elaborated on? |

Well the thing is all the dwarves live away from the humans and the were-wolves are not around (thank goodness) and the great dragons are rather nasty. Also i have no magic so i was trying to come up with something to spice things up. |

I have: Humans Dwarves Nomahar Shibaar Deelqaaf (more of a sentient creature, closest to giants probably) Mirare and probably a few others. The vast majority would be the first three, though. eruheran |

I'd say that with dwarves wielding guns, several different human nations, one somewhat detail developed, and dragons, your would doesn't need a magic or anything else to "spice it up."

Yeah, I think it's good how you have it. Especially considering different tribes of each race. |
