Post subject:  The Four Swimming Creatures - Banawr

The banawr (ban-arr) are part turtle, part chameleon, and very big. They are mostly controlled by the giants.

The banawrs’ eyes are large and chameleon-like. Their eyes are a forest green, with bright yellow-green streaks in a star pattern. Their snouts are rounded and turtle-like, with large nostrils. They do not have noticeable ears. The colour of their head changes with their environment, and they have gills for underwater breathing. The banawrs’ bodies have a six foot diameter, and they are of solid build. Their colour changes with their environment. Their stubby legs and feet are large in circumference, and their tail is small, short, and pointed.

The banawr are semi-sapient. Their only cobhaic power is changing colour, and their use is unknown. All banawr are tamed. They only give birth to two young in their lifetime. Banawr can live for up to one hundred years. Their call is a low, quiet rumble. They are grumpy, bumbly, and quiet.

The things I have outlined here are what is usually the case. It is possible for banawr to differ from this description. Those who do are either adored or shunned. If you have any questions about why I made them a certain way, ask away! It will help me to solidify them.

If they only give birth to one young, are they all capable of giving birth? Or do you have another way to avoid a rapidly diminishing population?

That's what I was going to ask! If they aren't predators or even have just one natural enemy, then they would die out within a few centuries. If they are one of the swimming races and very large, how are they all domestic? And how come they don't have any flippers or fins if their natural habitat is the water?

See! This is why I put these up for you guys to look at. You always catch things I don't. :)

Good point. I've changed it to two.

They were tamed by the giants, who are also very large.

They swim with their legs like regular turtles.

Don't swimming turtles have flippers?

What does the Banawr eat?

Do they have any special smelling ability so they can find some food? Or do the giants feed them?
