The Daemon is a Falcon like creature which can take on other unique forms, (Or a shape shifter!) They are about 3 feet high, with a 5 feet wingspan. They are of a brownish tan color, and when they shape shift they, of course, take the color of the Creature they shape shift into. At 15, squires of Knights, Princes, Kings, etc, acquire them as Daemon Guardians. They can live up to 1000 years at the most. When they are about to die, they leave the one whom they must protect (If he is still alive |

I have a couple of questions. First, how do you pronounce their name? |

I'd like to have one of those around! They sound like fascinating creatures. A bit like a Phoenix. Do they stay with their human for life? Do they form bonds, or are they merely working animals that accept assignments? My brain sees the name "daemon" and instantly tries to associate it with the word "demon." I'm not sure if that's intentional; I expect your name is pronounced "day-mon," but it's only one letter different from "demon." |

Philadelphia wrote: My brain sees the name "daemon" and instantly tries to associate it with the word "demon." Very good Philadelphia! They are pronounced as Demons. Demons on the other hand are evil, Daemons are relatives but wish only to do good. Shawn Henderson wrote: Second, can you elaborate on their "growing and becoming strong with intelligence?" I was curious to see how that played out. Lets see if I can help a bit, I haven't really experimented with them a lot. I was thinking something completely different. Yes, that clarifies a lot. Now it reminds me of natural selection though. |

Well, you're the author, so it is up to you. I don't know, something about the "instincts passed down through time" concept gets me, but it may just be me. I mean, I haven't read the story and I don't know where it's going, and you do. |

Well, right now, they are not in any story, I have been slowly brainstorming one though. |

Ok, sorry for jumping right into the middle of a conversation, but did I catch you say that they are close relatives to demons that wish only to do good?!? It may be just me, but I can't see how this is possible. Something about it just doesn't seem right. |

Elanhil, I think he means like angels are "close" to demons in the way that they are spiritual beings, but one is fallen and the other is not. That's how I understood it, but please correct me if I'm wrong. |

Oh dear What I was trying to say, is that Demons fell to evil, that is simple. The Daemons are relatives like Angels are to Demons, but the Daemons do not like sin. I'm trying to be clear, but it is hard. Does that help any? |

So they are spiritual beings, like demons and angels, and they're good spiritual beings? Are they always good, or do they have humanly struggles with right and wrong? |

They are spiritual beings, no they don't have struggles, they are sent to protect young squires. |

Wait, if they're angelic beings that don't sin, why do they die? |

Also, if they can die, when they are in a weaker form, are they more vulnerable? Like, when one is a fly, is it harder to kill than regular flies? |

I think the point of Phillip's creatures is to be guardians and protectors of their squires, so it would defeat the purpose for them to change into an inferior creature who would not be as fit to protect their “master”. |

Although that is true, he said they could change into a falcon or a bear, as two of his examples. A falcon can be killed by an arrow, while a bear cannot. |

That is true, in that case, if the Daemon fails to protect the squire, and the Daemon dies, so does the squire, and it's job is done |

I have thought very little about this, but I think its called a "Heart Connection" If the Squire dies, the Daemon dies also, it cannot go on living if the squire dies, does that help any? XD |
