Tynx scrambled after Jay, his eyes wide with fear. Chayn followed, but stopped by Shawn. She nudged Shawn's shoulder before sliding her tail in front of Shawn and helped lift her on her feet.

"Hurry!" Tynx hissed from where he hid with Jay, prancing in place. Chayn and Shawn joined them as quietly as they could.

"It's a helicopter," Jay grumbled under his breath.

"A what?!"

"SHHHH! And stay still!" Jay put his hand on Tynx.

Chayn's eyes locked on the skies, her head so low the grass tickled her chin. Tynx was wide eyed, his tail twitching.

"Why is it so loud?" Chayn asked quietly, her lips parted in a small snarl.

"Because...it isn't."

"Genius, Jay." Shawn was gingerly examining her injured knee. "That type of helicopter is designed for bearing heavy weight and speed, not silence.

Tynx crawled over to Shawn and sniffed her knee. "Are you OK?" Tynx glanced up. "Who does it belong to?"

Chayn, however, was far from calm. Her tail twitched sporadically, and her claws dug into the cool soil. Her dark eyes watched the sky as her wings quivered, sometimes unfurling, but never all the way. At least not yet.

"Chayn, stay still, and they won't see you." Jay put his hand lightly on her leg.

"I'm okay. I don't know who owns it," Shawn hissed. "Jay, did you bring any bandages?"

"I think I brought a few," Jay whispered back. Eventually he handed some to Shawn. Chayn twitched under his touch. Tynx looked at her. "I've never seen her like this. I hope she doesn't-"

Chayn was crouching very low, back arched and wing half-furled. Her eyes had a panicked look in them.

"Chayn," Shawn whispered softly. "Chayn.... It's okay."

"It's... so loud," Chayn rumbled, her eyes searching the skies. She looked as if she'd spring into the sky at any moment, but she remained where she was. Tynx hid behind Jay, shivering.

"It'll fly right over us, and then it'll be gone. It's okay," she soothed.

Your choice if she freaks out or not, if you want. ;)

It's OK. :) I'm sure we can find something for her to freak out with later. ;)

Chayn seemed to calm down a little. She shifted, her wings lowered. Her body was as tense as a spring, but she didn't show signs of panic as she did before as the loud helicopter neared overhead.

Jay couldn't decide if it slowed down just a bit as it neared the island. Only his eyes moved as he strained to see anything that would tell him the origin of the helicopter.

He caught Shawn's questioning look, but only shrugged. Finally the helicopter whirred into view, and all four stared up at it.

"Don't... move..." Jay said breathily.

Everyone froze. The wind blown down by the blades shook the trees and grass. Tynx sneezed. Chayn's pupils were huge, almost making it impossible to tell between the dark blue and the black. Her wings slowly unfurled, her mouth in a snarl.

"Chayn, no!"

Shawn tried to will the dragon to stay down. "Don't move, don't move, don't move..."

"Chayn, if you don't move, it will go away soon," Jay tried to sooth. Chayn glanced at Shawn, seeing her pleading look. Reluctantly, Chayn furled her wings again.

"I doubt such a noisy thing would have tasted nice anyway," Chayn said simply.

Jay attempted to close his mouth.

"No, it would have been very dry and nasty," Shawn quipped.

Eventually, the helicopter passed them by, but they waited a minute or two longer just to be sure. Then Tynx turned on Jay, his amber eyes glittering.

"How did that thing show up just as we got here? Did it know we were coming?"

Chayn seems to roll her eyes at Tynx often.

Chayn lifted her wing when Shawn had a firm grip. The girl sucked in air, startled, but exhaled slowly when she was safely settled on Chayn's back.

"Lead the way, little two-legs," Chayn spoke, her eyes glittered with amusement. Shawn laughed nervously.

Jay rolled his eyes as he started hopping from rock to rock. Tynx followed, delighted by the sparkling water.

Chayn slid into the water beside them, her wings unfurled slightly, resting on the smooth waters.

Let me know if there's room enough for her to do that (or deep enough).

It should be fine. :) I keep meaning to send you a picture of Stone mountain...

"Maybe it was a coincidence, maybe not," Jay said enigmatically. "I think we should get out of here. Shawn, can you walk?"

Shawn attempted to stand. "Um..."

"That would be a no."

Chayn lowered a wing towards Shawn. "You can pull yourself up with my wing," she told her, a small smile on her face. Tynx looked up at the sky, blinking into the sun.

"Well, at least the sun still looks the same here," he remarked. Chayn rolled her eyes. "What? It does." Jay smiled.

Shawn glanced at Chayn. "Okay..." She gingerly laid her small hand on the dragon's scales. Something inside her thrummed at the feel.

We should start another chapter soon. :)

Shawn sat very still, afraid of making the dragon lose her balance.

Chayn looked back at Shawn, her eyes glittered in amusment, as if she had read Shawn's thoughts. "You are free to move, little one. I've swum about before."

"It's her flying you have to watch out for," Tynx teased. Chayn snorted and whipped her tail his direction, sending up a wave of water and soaking him. Jay grinned at his wet tee shirt.

Shawn nodded, her eyes wide.

"So where are we, exactly? In your world, I mean?" Tynx asked, hopping carefully from rock to rock behind Jay. "And where are we going?"

"Give them time to breathe, Tynx," Chayn chided gently. "I'm we will find a time for questions soon."

Jay reached the mainland and turned. "Here we are... Where do we go from here?"

Tynx scanned the area, eyes huge. "Someplace safe, where we can't be seen like we almost were."

"How do you we weren't seen?" Chayn asked.

"Well, they would've come down, right?" Tynx looked a little confusede, as if he wasn't entirely sure himself.

Roger that. I'll post this one. :)

"We could go to your Dad's house."

"Dad's out of town, remember?"

"Oh. Well, we could to to Kendall's. He'll have a few ideas." She gave Jay a knowing glance. "What do you two think?"

"Um... Can I have another piece of granola bar?"

Are Wiki pictures a good representation of Stone Mountain?

The trouble those two could get into...

Chayn looked at the trio worriedly. She glanced at the sky. "I'm not sure we would be able to outfly it if we all flew." Tynx choked on the last of his granola bar.

"What do you mean? You carried us all here," he protested.

Chayn looked like she was about to say something, but Jay jumped in. "We could drive in the car, and you all could fly."

Shawn shook her head. "I'll need to ride..." She continued before Jay could protest. "They don't know the way, and we could get separated. And you don't know all the back ways. It's the only way, Jay. And chances are I'll be as safe on a dragon as you in a car."

"I can go with Jay!" Tynx volunteered. Chayn looked at him warily. "Oh come on, I'll behave! I promise! If it's OK with Jay?" Tynx looked at Jay.

Jay shrugged. "Fine with me. Explaining you if I get pulled over will be a doozy, but hopefully that won't happen." Tynx looked at him blankly. "Never mind. We're going to lay low anyway, right?"

"Huh?" Shawn made a face at Jay over Tynx's head.

"I can lay low!" Tynx boasted. He immediately crouched low to the ground, his belly brushing the grass. "See?" Chayn looked at him, slightly puzzled. "I think it works better if you're smaller." Chayn nodded, still examining Tynx's position. Jay looked slightly at a loss, but pushed it away as he smiled.

"Okay, then, lets..go!"

Shawn cocked her head to the side and pursed her lips. "You two had better stay out of trouble, unless you want to explain a dragon coming to rescue you."

"Me? Trouble?" Jay grinned, his eyes flashing. "Stay out of sight as much as possible."

"We will," Chayn promised. Once SHawn was safely on her back, she leapt into the air. Tynx looked at Jay.

"So, where to?"

Completely.

Jay couldn't help but laugh as he gave Tynx another piece. Chayn shook her wings, raining tiny water droplets on the trio.

"I don't who Dad and Kendall are, but whoever you two think would be the least likely to be alarmed would be best," Chayn looked at Shawn and Jay, her blue eyes only partially concealing her nervousness.

"Kendall is the best one who's available. How we get there is another issue."

"We can fly some more," Tynx piped up around a mouthful of granola.

"And be seen by the helicopter?" Chayn looked down at him. "But, we might be able to out-fly it, it looks too stiff to be very agile."

Jay frowned up at the sky. "That might work... Besides, it's clouding over. The less visibility, the better."

"This way; let me know if you can't keep up." Jay began hurtling through the underbrush, rapidly heading in the direction of the car.

Tynx smiled and darted off after Jay, his small body slipping through the underbrush easily. Until he ran into a tree.

"No one saw that!" He exclaimed, shaking his head to clear the circling stars and continued to run. "I think the tree moved on purpose." Tynx caught up to Jay. "So, are we running all the way to... to what's-his-name's house?"

"No, we're taking a car. I'll explain it on the way!" he interjected before Tynx could ask another question. "Okay, we're almost the parking lot. Follow me, and stay as quiet as possible."

Tynx nodded, the seriousness of Jay's tone made him keep quiet as he crept behind Jay, his ears pricked and his body low to the ground.

Shawn and Chayn watched from the sky. Between running rapidly and ducking behind cars, the duo managed to make it to the car. Jayson fiddled with his keys, and after a moment of explanation, he and Tynx got in the car.

Shawn grinned. "He'll have fun explaining seat belts."

"Seat belts?"

It took a few minutes for Jay to explain what the seat belts were. Tynx couldn't quite wrap his mind around the whole concept of the car as a whole. In the end, Jay gave up and started the car, he looked over at Tynx to see him hopelessly entangled in the seat belt.

"Like this?" Tynx asked, looking at Jay upside down. "How do you humans do it?" Jay rolled his eyes and started off, all the while muttering under his breath, "We won't get pulled over, we won't get pulled over..."

Shawn's eyes watched the car carefully. "Okay, here we go," she said calmly.

Chayn slowly followed the car, watching it carefully.

Insde said car, Tynx was poking around the dashboard. He nudged a pair of sunglasses.

"What are those?"

Below, Jay and Tynx caught up with the traffic. Jay began to get nervous, and tried to keep a very curious Tynx from climbing up on the dashboard.

I think we're learning to create dialogue and action for each other's characters, instead of just our own. ;)

Q: Can Jay and Tynx get pulled over, or something of the sort at the traffic site? If not, that's OK. I had an idea for Tynx's shape-shifting. :D

Oh, yes, I can tell it's flowing much easier. :D :D

Oh, sure, by whatever means you desire. :D

I'm thinking we're almost at another chapter.

Inside said car, Tynx was poking around the dashboard. He nudged a pair of sunglasses.

"What are those?"

"Um, I think those are Shawn's. You put them on your-" Jay glanced at the speedometer and slowed down, dropping his sentence. Tynx immediately wedged the glasses on his ears. "Oh, cool!"

Above, Chayn had spotted flashing lights. Lots of them.

"What's going on over there?" She asked, nodding in the direction of the flashing lights. Shawn peered at it, then groaned.

"Traffic. Listen, we're going to have to take the back ways."

"But what about Tynx? And Jay," the dragon amended.

"It's too risky. Besides, if there's any way, Jayson will get them there." She sensed the dragon's doubt. "We're probably less trouble if we go the other way. Someone might see us. Please, Chayn." Shawn leaned forward, pleading with her voice.

Chayn hesitated. She watched the car, then dipped her head and tilted away. She looked at Shawn. "Where to?"

Below, Jay and Tynx caught up with the traffic. Jay began to get nervous, and tried to keep a very curious Tynx from climbing up on the dashboard. "Tynx, lay low."

Shawn scanned the area, feeling Chayn's wings beating like the rhythm of her own heart. "That way," she said, forgetting to motion with her hand.

She glanced at Shawn expectantly. "Oops, that way," she repeated, this time motioning in the direction. Chayn swerved away, keeping high in the sky to avoid detection.

"Aw, but why?" Tynx looked at Jay. So far, they had advanced about as far as a snail would have in the span of the minute, only they had moved that much in about fifteen.

"Because-" Jay stopped mid-sentence. A man in a dark blue uniform was approaching.

That was a lot. o.O *Needs to quit being so wordy*

This seemed like a good stopping place to me, so I thought I'd stick this section in the other thread. Does that sound good to you? :)

Sounds good. Love the suspense. :D

The officer rapped on the window, making Jay jump. Without glancing at Tynx, he rolled down the window.
