Here is the long-awaited creation of Murel. ;)
Comments are appreciated. :)

In the beginning there was nothing save Criel. He spoke and with His Word made the Lão to worship Him and to be His hands and feet. Criel spoke and with His Word raised out from Himself dust and used His hands to mold the dust into the earth, and the earth into Murel. Criel discharged his power and painted the skies above, the seas below, and the rock between. Criel poured out his creativity and crafted the plants and animals of the forests, the plains, and the seas. Criel took the flame within him and squeezed into existence Verida, Nurela, and the other heavenly bodies. Criel spoke and with His Word created the pheonix and the gryphons to be His messengers in Murel.

Lastly, Criel and His Word took great care to mold a man and woman from the dust of Murel. After Criel created the man and woman He placed them in Floreí, a forest paradise that contained the best of all Criel had created. Then Criel breathed on all He had made and gave Murel life.

Criel spoke to the newly made man and woman, " You shall be called Adiram and Erodém because you were created for Me and for each other. You are my dearest creation, for I have created you in My image and I can not commune with any other of my creations as I can with you."

Criel then took aside Adiram and led him into the middle of Floreí to a hill with a cave. On the crest of the hill was a fresh water spring. Criel then spoke to Adiram "Here I charge you with dominion over all that I have created with the exception of the inside of this hill. The spring on this hill is for you and your wife’s use. The water is the sweetest in all of Murel and will give you eternal life. But remember, you may go anywhere throughout Murel, but if either you or Erodém enter this mountain you will die."

Then Criel looked at all He had made and was pleased with it.

It's a pleasant fantasy version of Creation, and introduces the phoenix and the gryphons, who I'm sure you will reveal more fascinating details on later.

I love the idea of phoenix and gryphons being equated to angelic beings! Very nice use of allegory there.

Will you develop Lao more later? Is that like Satan?

I agree. The style in which you wrote this has a very poetic quality.

@ All: Wow. I got the feeling that this was too encylopedeish. Good thing that isn't the case. :D

@ Inesdar: I don't count the pheonix and gryphon in my list of races because they are on the level of angels. However, I do have elf-like humans and dwarf-like humans which I do count in my races making the count 3. I haven't mentioned them yet because they don't come around until a few years later in a worldbuilding post I have planned based on the story of Cain and Abel.

@ Jonathan: Thanks. :D I do have some posts planned that will include more details about the pheonix and gryphon. Specifically, the fall of Murel and a pheonix and gryphon post for the Bestiary.

@ Philli: Actually, I don't plan this to be an allegory at all. The La~o are my angels. They are exactly like earth angels except they cannot appear on Murel. They can appear to people in dreams/visions and talk to people's sub-conscience but Criel has placed direct interaction with Murel off-limits to the La~o unless people of Murel ask for their "interference". The fallen La~o have the same barriers, so they try to use demonic worship/use of fetishes to get people in Murel to allow them direct interaction with Murel (one example being demon-possession). The pheonix and gryphons are like angels that can have direct interaction with Murel. They can see angels/demons at work but they cannot interfere in any way.
Think of it this way: the La~o are angels that mainly influence things spiritually, while the mortal angels influence things physically.

Oh, me me! *raises hand eagerly* :D

That makes sense, Sui, and it's very fascinating. I like how you divide the two types of angelic beings and give them unique boundaries. That's going to make for a lot of fun plot!

It didn't read like an encyclopedia to me; I quite enjoyed it, Sui. Like Jonathan said, it's a well done allegory of the Creation story. I liked it! :D

Back, having reread this - I still like :) Actually, I have few, if any comments. I really like your names for Adam and Eve :)

Replace the first a with o in Adiram and switch the word around. See what you come up with in Portuguese?

For Eve I modified the word Adiram. :)

Somewhat.

My elves don't have pointy ears. Their bodies are closer to perfection than the other races of Murel because they were least affected by the fall. They are slightly taller than humans and are always in prime physical condition.

The dwarves are closer to what you would think of normal dwarves. They have a great blood-lust for battle, are of normal shortness, and would fall out of shape if the workouts they are involved in didn't keep them so strong.

At least I have a reason why. Their bodies are affected by the fall but not as much as the others. This will make more sense once I have some more stuff written and put up.

This has been updated to include reference to the elements and put the Spring of Life at the top of the hill. :)

(this will probably need updating again when I make a language  )

Okay, so they could go ON the hill to the spring, but not INSIDE the mountain. Did I get that right?

I thought it was great! Very well written! It makes me think of what I'm doing for writing the history for the creation of my world (style-wise).

I just have a few questions. Are you planning to have the Trinity in your book? Because the Holy Spirit was also instrumental in creating the earth, but you don't really mention him.

And secondly, man in Genesis was the only part of Creation to be God-breathed. I just thought I'd mention that. :)

Along with everyone else, WOW. :D Reading it, is just GORGEOUS and brings all sorts of beautiful images to mind.

Firstly... I... don't know. :P I haven't really thought about the Holy Spirit in Murel yet. *head/desk*
Refresh my memory: how did the Holy Spirit play a part in making Earth?

Secondly... Did I write otherwise? *looks back*
I did. I'll probably change that.
Incidentally, I've always thought of God's breathing into Adam as the time when life began on Earth (I don't know why my mind assumed that ). What was the purpose of the breathing into Adam?

Thirdly... Thanks. That is great to hear. :D

Well, it says, "The Spirit of God hovered over the face of the waters." And since the Trinity is always unified I would assume the Spirit of God was involved in Creation the same way The Word was.

Well, actually there was plant and animal life before Adam. I think the purpose of breathing into Adam and nothing else was to show that he was different from the rest of Creation. He was made in God's image with a soul that could have a relationship with God.

I'm not positive. I'm not a theologian. But from my reading that's my interpretation. :)

As far as God breathing life into Adam goes, I agree with Willow and Phili.

I'm not sure about the Holy Spirit taking part in creation...I do some studying and get back to ya'll on that. (Aniese is rubbing off on me! ;) )
