Eartea is populated by strange beings. The Kins of Huri, the various untainted tribes of mankind, the now-extinct perfect humanoid race of Wushtat, and the demon possessed who pose as gods.
But all these are, in some sense, human.
There is another race. They are created in the image of God, yes; they have free will. And they have souls; they are not animals, but sentient.
Yet they do not have dominion over the earth and creatures.
The dragons were created to serve mankind. Our fall became their fall. But our Savior is their Savior.
When Mankind fell, the Almighty commanded that they, who were less tainted by evil than men, would be freed from the authority (but not the dominion) of the Wushtat so that they could be fully devoted to serving mankind, who were now helpless and vulnerable to an evil that corrupted all their works.
The dragons became slaves. Those that resisted mankind's dominion became twisted by their rebellion and were more evil than the men they fought. They were the Man-Eaters, most hated of all monsters.
Some were banished by men for teaching the Word of the Almighty and fled to the healing protection of the Wushtat. They became the Abandoned Tribe-forever separated from the object of their earthly existence. Their tribe is the greatest enemy of the false gods, but they hold little sway with humans. They live a life of mourning, separated as by death from those who seem like both their children, their fathers, and their brothers.
All dragons remain the enemies of the false gods. Because of their incredible size and distinct separation from both animals and humans, the Huri call them Giants or Titans.
In terms of mass, the body of a dragon is about the weight of an elephant. Naturally the wings must be simply gigantic.
There are two kinds of dragon.
The Lupinshkat are actually mammalian. They are hairy, and their bodies tend to be more bulky and short. The wings are not quite large enough for flying but allow for great leaps and some gliding, as well as providing a distinct advantage in battle. Some have said that they bear a small resemblance to wolves, and their head does tend to be more wolf-shaped than reptile shaped.
The reptilian form of dragon is refered to as Drashkat. Although this is properly a term for both kinds, it has been used traditionally only for the reptilian kind.
This kind is more like the dinosaurs and dragons you are familiar with. Elongated bodies, large tails, and fire-lungs. In fact, the Drashkat do not "breath fire". Instead, they actually spit a highly flammable acid. As they spit two chemicals from different organs in their throat mix. While the chemical travels through the air it reacts and forms the acid. In warm climates it generally ignites upon contact, in cool weather the acid can still burn through limb and body. The Drashkat can produce another substance which negates the acid, and is the only way to put out a fire which is burning the acid.
The Dragons cannot produce the human consonants. They speak the vowel-only First Tongue, which most humans are no longer familiar with.
_________________ I am Ebed Eleutheros, redeemed from slavery in sin to the bond-service of my Master, Jesus Christ.
Redemption is to be purchased, to have a price paid. So I was redeemed from my master sin, and from justice, which demanded my death. For He paid the price of sin by becoming sin, and met the demands of justice by dying for us.
For all men have a master. But a man cannot have two masters. For he will love one and hate the other. You cannot serve God and sin. So I die to the old, as He died, and I am resurrected to the new, as He was resurrected.
Note: Ebed is Hebrew for bondsman, Eleutheros is Greek for unrestrained (not a slave).
