What's this? Science minded, always-grumbles-about-magic Varon is posting about either magic or cobha in his world? What has happened to him? o.O

Yes friends, I am indeed posting here. As you may or may not know, I am completely overhauling Ainaan from the ground up. This is part of the first phase of that operation. The Feargh Jorava is incredibly important to Ainaan, I think, since it literally reshapes the face of the world. For those who are familiar with the Sundering or whatever I called it that shattered the world and flooded the central region (Which I am keeping), was caused by this.

Essentially, the Feargh Jorava is a method to gain justice against the dark powers when all other means have failed. Those who take on its burden are granted with a miniscule portion of the just wrath and power of Lyrianur, Given that Lyrianur is the creator of the multiverse, that is no small amount.

To invoke it, whoever wishes to bear the burden must recite an oath. I had it written out somewhere, I think. Unfortunately, I lost it. So, I need to rewrite it. Essentially though, it shows they are willing to take full responsibility for what shall occur because of their actions. If they start a war, all the deaths and damages will be on their hands. They also can not turn aside from their pursuit and give it up. The Feargh Jorava can not be revoked, except in the first seven moon cycles.

Once the Oath is spoken, and witnessed by the Lady Utontol, Lyrianur will grant the person the Feargh. Before they can truly accomplish anything though, they will need to travel to the far North where they must find the materials to craft a weapon that can withstand the energy and power using the Jorava unleashes. It is this time period that is the main catalyst for any of those who wish to depart the path. The journey serves as a period for contemplation and adjustment to the power it grants them. Their aging is slowed. Their strength magnified a thousand fold. They can fight more enemies than can be counted and come out unscathed.

However it consumes them. Slowly, the fire within burns them, body and soul, until nothing remains. Plus the havoc wreaked when it is active, which is essentially a berserk rage. As there is no limit on the power a wielder can use in battle, it can be catastrophic. The first and second people to invoke it broke the world. The first caused the ground beneath the city of Din Saher to split wide open, and send great fissures across the lands to the East and West, which gushed water out that flooded the central areas. Granted, she was fighting Malcain, the second greatest of all beings. The second, Ouska, shattered the land of Rhoronen even more than they already were, turning them into nightmarish lands of twisted rock, and killing thousands of innocents. The challenge then, is for them to control themselves and prevent such catastrophes from occurring again.

They also have aura around them. Not visible, but felt. It's intimidating and terrible. Drives people away and makes them keep their distance.

So yeah, this is the majority of my worldbuilding so far.

Sounds like fun. Not from the characters' POV, of course; but story-wise it sounds like a great thing to play around with.

How do you justify it theologically?

Yeah, only the most truly desperate characters would invoke it.

I don't really. Theology isn't really anything I focus on when I write.
