This is a project I wanted to work on for a very long time. If any of you are familiar with my previous threads pertaining to Ska'Lah'Seh then you will know I'm working on a CHRISTIAN FANTASY rpg world. The truth is that this originally started out as a christian mmorpg project but I got discouraged. I'm a writer and an artist, I don't know squat about programming, but I can't give this up. I believe it may be a divine calling but I can't do this alone. I need programmers and other guys with vision to help me put the spark of life into this thing. So here is the deal...

If you wanna help, post here or pm me. I may even give you my e-mail address.
If you know someone who might be interested get them to get in touch with me.

I don't just wanna make a half-baked, wow-clown with Jesus slapped on the cover. I wanna make a good game with solid controls and a good, engaging, christian fantasy story and world. I don't even care if we throw a billion bucks in and never make a penny, I want to do this. In the name of God, I want to do this to further the kingdom. I hope someone else out there shares my passion.

Wow, a Christian role playing game would be so great. After staring in awe at the beauty and vast size of the gamescape in Skyrim (viewed through Youtube), I was very sad to read of the violence, immodesty, and dark spirituality that pervaded the quests. Making a high-quality game that honors God? That is a very worthy goal. I probably know even less about programming than you do, but if we start having discussions on story, and world-building, and stuff like that, I bet I could help. :D

*whistles* That is a very big project indeed. There's no way you can make something that big by yourself, even if you don't get discouraged. It takes game companies years to make them, and that's with probably hundreds of people working on it. Not saying it's impossible, but I think you'll need a lot of help, and you might want to start with something smaller, I don't know. But, if you do this? Definitely make sure it isn't a half-baked WoW clone with Jesus pasted on it. If you're going to put that much effort into it, make sure it's good.

Now, if you can get enough help from here, you can probably at least make sure it has the best storyline of all time, but I don't think there are all that many programmers here.

Although, speaking of that, I have some programming experience, and I'm tentatively willing to help, but I don't have any experience with something of this sort, or at least not on the programming side of things.

Well any help would be appreciated. The truth is I was really hoping someone could redirect me somewhere. I am hoping to do a number of things with this MMORPG project. I don't want to make another grindfest. I wanna make a game with wholesome content based in a fantesy world somewhere between the overtness of Narnia and the subtle allegory of Lord of the Rings. There will be conflict mostly against evil monsters rather than people though there may be some evil people.

Yes, that sounds great! Ideas of where this could go if it got started were swirling in my head all afternoon. :) I don't know anything about making games, but I'm sure someone on here does.

Very interesting. :D I'd love to help, but I don't even have any experience in playing MMORPGs.

I pray this idea takes off. :D

Wow, lots of good lucks and I don't know how to help's, lol. If anyone finds a place for me to take this, like a christian gaming forum or something I'd be much obliged. Very few have tried to make christian mmorpg's there is visions, but that's more or less trade and skill based. I want to make a fantasy adventure based and even fewer have tried to make a free MMORPG ministry.

But again, if anyone can redirect me to an appropriate forum I'd be much obliged.

Then again, I may just want to finish my more secular (with christian influence) modern fantasy book first. Then use the money from that to get this project started up, whatever it takes this project will be finished and finished with quality before I push up a single daisy even if I have to be two-thousand before it is done.

Speaking of my Modern fantasy book I was wondering if I could discuss it a little on the forums even thou it's more secular (I think I'm using that correctly) in nature. I mean it's got some pro faith and pro christian and deep think stuff but it's more wholesome humor and fun adventure story and the more philosophical stuff tends to take a back seat to the rest of it but I was wondering if that would be ok.

Appropriate forum for a Christian MMORPG? I don't think there is one currently. You could try www.christiangaming.com, I suppose. Or contact the people at www.foundationsofhope.com, who are doing something similar.

For your last question, I think so. Not all Christian fantasy needs to be philosophical, allegorical, or a mirror story.

I think the Holy Worlders are great when it comes to world-building and story-building, so we'll be here to help you with that part. Keep trying!
Have you tried bringing this up in Chat yet? You might possibly find someone there.

I'd love to hear how this goes, I also don't know how to program, but I'm hoping to learn, and I can recommend a free, but very powerful digital modding/rendering program, it's called Blender. Look it up, learn how to use it, make a game! (I know, I know, easier said than done, but simple at least :dieshappy: )

If you haven't already, you should check out the Christian Developer's Network ( http://talk.christiandevs.com/ ). If my small experience with it is any indicator, it's almost a game-programming analogue of Holy Worlds. They have Christian game self-publishers, a friendly community, and art/coding contests every now and then.

As for me, I'd be interested to hear more about your plan. I can do some programming, and would love to be a part of making a godly RPG, but I'm sure you know it takes a HUGE team and budget to make an MMO...anyways, if there's any good place to start, CDN is probably not a bad bet.

I have a little programming experience, but more in the way of PHP/JavaScript on web sites...not so much a full program as this would likely be :P Still, I'm tentatively willing to help a little bit, maybe on the website?

You're welcome. If you decide to try it, you'll probably find a certain forum helpful, it's called blenderartists.org/forum/ but right now the page isn't loading...
