Elder Bloods are genetic material from the Old Beings which have latent abilities within them. Most of them originate from Demons, however a few have Angelic origins and some stem from totally different sources such as High Dragons. Elder Bloods are difficult to actually infuse into the human body and this rarely occurs in modern times. If a being has Elder Blood in the world of Tira, it was probably inherited. There are several different Elder Bloods present in the bloodlines of human-kind, I will list them here.
Demonic
Malcheorra – Characterized by frost blue eyes and white hair, this blood allows the body to absorb and channel “Destruction” Energy but at the cost of an extreme loss of self-control, the effects are similar to an uncontrollable bloodlust.
Paramanthedos – This Blood, when activated creates a dream world within the mind of another being at a fixed point in time. Within this dream world an indefinite amount of time can pass without a moment passing in the real world. (Though this is not usually the case; in most case time passes normally on the outside.) The person who created the dream world typically has difficulty controlling it and any member participating can die within their own mind causing the body to ceasing functioning in the real world. Also, if the instance in which the dream is created is not contained it can cause a “dream wave” which sends all those it afflicts into REM sleep instantly, again for an indefinite amount of time. Finally, the mental capacity and energy level of the target determines the intensity of all the factors mentioned above. Paramanthedos is characterized with pale lavender colored eyes.
Arunidrae – This Elder Blood is possessed by the Ghost Weavers and allows the wielder to form a subatomic connection to the world around him/her and transmute the atoms with which he is connected into other substances within an instant. (This includes the users own body, no matter what form the user changes into [Mist would be a good example.] his consciousness remains intact unless the ability is deactivated.) This blood is also characterized with pale lavender eyes, but it and Paramanthedos have differing pupil shapes.
Scathiaros – This is one of the most bizarre Elder Bloods, it allows instantaneous teleportation across shadows as well as manipulation of their movement. Because of this those who possess this blood are often referred to as “Shadow Casters. (Or Shrouders)” The user can extend or bend his or her shadow in the desired manner and he/she is able to teleport to any location within his or her own shadow or any other shadow to which his/hers is connected to. The downside to this technique is that it causes super rapid depletion of energy. Scatharios is characterized by pale desert colored eyes.
Archaria –A Passive Elder Blood which grants telescopic vision and exponentially increased visual awareness. Though extremely rare, this Elder Blood is one of the most powerful in the sense that the users is able to comprehend enemy movements at a much faster rate than normal thereby allowing him or her to counter attack or defend against most attacks with ease. In addition the telescopic vision makes use of ranged weapons highly practical and extremely deadly, boosting long-range accuracy immeasurably. This blood is characterized by bronze colored eyes.
Scritoria – A truly demonic power which links the opponents body to your own using their blood as a intermediate. After the connection is formed the “Blood Writer” can cause any number of negative effects to befall the victim, but at the cost of his or her own blood. If the user manages to write a glyph on his opponent using their own blood, the effect is permanent and does not require additional blood to stay active. But normally, with each increasing level of “curse” more of the users blood is required, it is even possible to kill another being using this technique but at the cost of the users own life. Only the original wielders of this Elder Blood, the demons known as Shinigami, are capable of killing another being without extinguishing their own lives. Scritoria is one of the few Elder Bloods which the presence of cannot be determined by the shape or color of the eye. Instead, a black symbol appears on the inner wrists. Oddly enough, it is similar in appearance to a flower blossom.
Angelic
Halcheyos –
Sealed: The blood of the Demon Hunters, Halcheyos is identified chiefly by deep smoke grey eyes that lack any form of pupil. Halcheyos creates an unbelievably strong bio-electric field within those who carry it, in addition, the skeletal structure is metallic and heavily mineral infused. The blood also allows for the electric currents sent from the brain to move faster than normal increasing the response time of the muscles.
Awakened: In its Awakened form Halcheyos turns the eyes bright white and creates a cross formation in the center of the eye. During the activation of the awakened state visible electric surges course across the body and the ground on which its user stands. Movement and muscle reactions time of the user is sped up by a factor of ten and all attacks become as potent as a lightning strike.
Beast
Ceridora – A Bestial Elder Blood which allows the user to reach into an opponent’s body and draw out life energy causing slight decay to any organ he or she comes into contact with.
Chalosteos – This is a bestial Elder Blood that has both a Passive and Active state. The Passive state is active from birth and never deactivates, for this particular Elder Blood its passive state hardens the user's bone to a level which rivals steel. The Activated state allows super rapid growth of these bones into almost anything the user could desire. It’s important to note that this Elder Blood can cause the death of its user if used improperly or too often. Normally use results in heavy blood loss. Chalosteos is characterized by crimson colored eyes.
