I remembered about the Gorthen dogs after reading Esilis' post about the Elvurs :)
I came up with a special kind of wolf several years ago. A sorcerer had bred them, and people thought that he must have crossed wolves with some kind of poisonous snake. When one of these wolves claws or scratches at someone/something, a sac at the base of the claw, on the paw itself, releases venom.
The venom is deadly, and the victim dies after several weeks.
The Gorthen dogs are in packs, some can speak if given the ability by a sorcerer or sorceress. They are completely evil and vicious, and unless controlled by magic they will attack any living thing on sight.
They can jump very high, sometimes being able to jump over an average sized man, and they are extremely fast.
Any questions? Ask away, and I'll be glad to answer!

Those are creepy! Great job! If I think of some questions, I'll be sure to post them. :)

Questions, questions! *raises hand *

Okay, why does it take weeks for a victim to die? If these creatures have deadly venom then the victims should die relatively quickly because they introduce the venom into a person's bloodstream by scratching them.

If you want it to take weeks, then you need the venom to be more like an invasion into the body. It's more like the body must fight an intruding substance, sorta like a fever. That could make a horrible death that would take weeks to die from.

Do you want them to be killed quickly, or slowly? That would change how you develop the creatures.

Well, yes, it's sort of a fever that takes over the body. I was writing a story once, where someone was attacked by one of the Gorthen Dogs. I'll see if I can find it and post it here :) Thank you for the question :D
Oh, and yes, they die pretty slowly. I guess it's kind of like an infection, just a slow working one. *shudders*
