It is a Zeldian custom that when a woman has had a boyfriend for 3 years or less, she must walk barefoot. After 3 years, she must wear sandals or any other open-toed shoe. Once she gets married, she must wear closed shoes. Also, in my worlds, it is not of importance what kind of footwear a man uses.

Fascinating. Many cultures do something with hair or clothing to represent marital status, but I've never heard of footwear. That's very unique and very suitable, I think. The different stages reflect the woman's availability at that time well. :D

I also think it's cool because footwear was involved in ancient Hebrew culture in some ways.

Very fascinating. :D Why did you choose to have the system work that way, as opposed to the opposite way, out of curiosity?

Be careful of your thoughts; guard your mind, for your thoughts become words. Be guarded when you speak, for your words turn into action. Watch what you do, for your actions will become habits. Be wary of your habits, for they become your character. Pray over your character; strive to mold it to the image of Christ, because your character will shape your destiny.

Ideas can germinate from the smallest seeds. Collect those seeds, and let them grow in the back of your mind. You may be surprised by what finally blooms.

When God takes something from your grasp, he's not punishing you. Instead, He’s opening your hands to receive something better. The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.

Do the different types of shoes represent something?

Thankyou, all. :D The different KINDS of shoes don't matter as long as they are either open-toed or closed. I chose to do this simply because I thought it was creative and unique. :D

So... what about single people? What do they do for their feet?
And when does one formally have a boyfriend? Does he have to ask or say something particular to enter the barefoot phase?

Single women also walk barefoot. When I say "3 years or less" I also mean no years. ;)
