Hey guys! Long time no see. I didn't see a thread devoted to people just throwing names around and seeing what people think. So please do that here. To start us off: Asht I want to know: - Is it interesting to read? - Is it interesting to say? - Do you immediately imagine this as a Character who is good, bad, or not sure? - Male or Female? - Anything that concerns you or you would like to mention? Please answer anywhere from 0 to all of the questions. I am by no means in love with this name, so feel free to bash it so I can trash it. Alternative spellings: Ausht Awsht Complete alternatives: Isht Esht Eshton Eston Makasht Mekkesht (if you can't tell, I'm trying to include the sht consonant blend without it sounding like a bad word) |

Cool. I actually like "Asht". It is pretty interesting. Although, I pronounced it as "ash-tear", until I saw from your alternate spellings that you meant it to be "posh-tear". Also the "sht" could fit in better in a longer name. If it makes you feel any better, none of the names made me think of a bad word, until you mentioned it. What do you guys think of "Tachiprand"? |

Thanks for the help! I might use it in a longer name. Mistress Kidh wrote: What do you guys think of "Tachiprand"? It has a nice kind of rhyming singsongy sound to it. Like something out of Narnia. It would sit well on the page next to Nikabrik or Puddleglum. It also seems a little uppity. "The man was the grand old Tachiprand, and he wasn't having any nonsense." I first read the "ch" like the end of Attach, but I could see someone reading it as a soft k sound. I read the "i" as a short vowel And I read the end as "and" (hence, the grand old Tachiprand) Another name I am considering is Mizzah. The problem is that I have used the name for a character for so long, that I can't get myself to change it. Something about it seem to not fit the character, but every time I try a different name I end up reluctantly coming back to Mizzah. |

I like Mizzah. It's effervescent, but the M makes it sound somewhat sensible.
