I'd be interested! I don't have tons of time, but I'm always interested in bettering my character development, and I have a feeling this would help!

Hey everyone, So, a long time ago, I did this little writing experiment with some friends of mine. It helped to stretch our writing, so I thought I would play it with any of you who are willing. Plus, it is really fun! Basically how it works is you let me know that you want to play and I will send each of you the same message from a character called Martinus. I suggest you make up a new character to reply with. That way you can mold him/her/it as the conversation unfolds. It was really cool last time to see the stories and back stories unfold as we replied back and forth. Literally anything can happen, and it was a lot of fun. Usually the stories find a natural ending point, and when that happens, I will post the individual threads on here so we can see how everyone responded. If you would like to make a spin off of this idea, feel free to post those stories here as well. If you are at all interested, send me a PM and I will send you the first message from Martinus. Reply however you want. Just be sure to limit yourself to the perspective of your character and we'll see how it goes from there. |

I won't worry about time if you won't! I don't have a ton of time either. I guess I should have mentioned that there is no time commitment to this. If you decide to just never reply, then that is fine. I will do my very best to reply to folks who join, but I too am very busy (especially this week – ug, finals...). To those of you playing this with me, It has been really neat to see the variety of responses so far! Most of these are going in completely different directions. There is an awesome variation in people's "voice" and it is really fun to mold Martinus into all of these different character types. I would like to encourage you to try this out from my perspective. Try writing some message to a couple different people and see how they respond differently. It will stretch you even more as a writer to reinterpret your first message as different people react to it. If you do this with some other people, please post the finished thread on here. I would love to see how people take this game and make it their own. I'm especially curious what people might come up with as first message. You can even send one to me if you want! On a side note from all of this. Please be patient with me as you wait for my responses. I'm trying my best to answer each message in the order I receive them, so that might mean it could take me a while to get to your message. But please do let this discourage you from replying! Keep the messages coming! I am having a blast playing this with you all, and I can't wait to share our stories with the rest of Holy Worlds. In Christ, Andorin |
