What particular bad habit does your Main Character struggle with/have?

It can be a small bad habit, like biting your nails, or a somewhat larger one.

A quick search of my story documents for the keyword "habit" pulled up these:

Charlie has a slight drinking problem.
Zander likes to blow things up for fun--does that count?
Fern grumbles and mumbles--a lot.
Savadra kicks people
Heron exaggerates
Nikk's father Garikk likes to tell stories of things that have happened and draws the whole thing out for a very long time until most people aren't interested anymore--if they were to begin with.


This is a really interesting idea. I'll have to go through my characters and see if there are other things that would be considered bad habits. Or, considering what their characters are already like, pose some theories about what bad habits they might have.

Hope has a bit of a savior complex, so she repeatedly gets into unhealthy relationships with guys that she's trying to save from themselves, which clearly leads to some serious negative after-effects.

Er - I think so!

That really can be something girls struggle with sometimes as well, Varon. Is there any cause as to why she has this complex, what brought it on?

Herobrine has many: (and yes, I do have a character in a working story called herobrine)

-Over working
-Prying
-Going overboard on preparations
-Abusing special clone powers


I'll think of more.

Part of it is genetic. SHe is half-Yllren, an alien race created to be protectors and guardians, so she is naturally inclined to take great risks for the sake of others. The other part is that her father (The Yllren), had to leave her and her mother when she was incredibly young, but before he did, he took her mother through the folds of reality so she would understand why. It broke her mind and when she returned, she was absent-minded and partially insane, so she wasn't a very good mother. This left Hope feeling abandoned and unloved, so she's also desperately seeking that as well, and the two become tragically intertwined to express the way way they do.

These are just a few of my characters. I was in danger of filling the entire thing with males, since most of my characters are male. But I forced myself to think of a few of my female characters and add them in. XD

Viggo Steele: Smoking; an addiction to coffee; his desire to trust and help everyone (he's a treasure hunter/warrior-for-hire, which makes that a little dangerous).

Jack Renegade: Drinking problem; anger issues; the tendency to act without thinking.

Nia Kirkpatrick: Emotionally and mentally beating herself up, among other things.

Evangeline Rivers: Disobeying her parents in order to explore or go on adventures.
