Nenith (called Nen by family and friends) is the youngest daughter and child of the king of Athulia. Like her sister, her future is tied up in the match she can make, but unlike her sister, she doesn't really care. She prefers to spend her days in the library learning about other places and cultures. Nenith is a caring person and once she conquers her shyness with a particular person, she is the most faithful of friends. She always has a kind word for everyone and is always ready--to the point of sometimes being too quick--to offer advice.

Nenith sees the world as black and white. What you are doing is either right or wrong. She sees no place for actions that hurt someone else, no matter what that hurt may achieve. She believes in doing what's right, no matter what the price may be. This belief does clash with her timidity.

Nenith's greatest desire is sincerity. She is sick of the masking and shallowness she sees around her at court and desires genuineness. She also secretly longs for love. This causes her to "fall for" Alaen (the king of Nalycia) when she finds that he is different from the people she knows and more "real." Don't look at me like that. I may have a sort of love triangle going on here, but it's not the normal kind, I promise!

Nenith's relationship with her family is close and loving. She looks up to Corithazon and Saen with respect, though she has more respect for Saen, because he seems more genuine. She tries hard to love Sylve, though she often finds herself frustrated with her sister's actions.

Do you like being the youngest? What, in your eyes, are the advantages and disadvantages of it?

What's your favorite place/culture to study?

It doesn't really matter to me. I'd be happy with whatever. I suppose one thing I do like about it is that I'm left to myself more. I have time to read and study without always being asked to horse race or the like. And people notice me less, so I can think more. Though sometimes being noticed less is a disadvantage as well. *wry smile*

*blushes a little* Right now I'm enjoying studying about Nalycia. It helps me understand where Alaen is coming from and how he thinks.

Does your sister know you love Alaen? Would you want her to know? Has your relationship with your sister changed because of him?

*eyes widen* Goodness, I hope not!

Gwendolyn wrote:

Never. She has the spite of a wildcat when crossed. *blushes* Sorry. I shouldn't speak ill of her. It doesn't matter, anyway, because I won't do anything about it. They love each other, or rather, he's in love with her. I won't stand in their way. If he loves her, I won't try to change that.

Yes. Syl is treating me like a competitor, though I've done nothing to make her think that. And me, I'm afraid I'm more critical and cold toward her. I know what she's doing.

So, what's Alaen like? ;) What is your relationship with your parents?

When was the time it cost you the most to stand up for something?

What's your favorite color?

Who is your best friend?

Does anyone ever tease you for spending so much time reading and studying?

Have you ever been pressured to make decisions about who you might want to marry, or about the things that most people think are important for a princess in choosing a match?

*tight smile* It costs me every day in my relationship with my sister. She doesn't understand how I can disapprove of what she does, be vocal about it, and still love her.

I'd have to say light green.

Kirra and I get along fairly well. She's one of the few that care about more than dresses and flirting. We've had some good conversations about history and politics. We could be good friends, I think, if she wasn't occupied elsewhere. *laughs lightly* It's ironic, really. The people that I can connect with are too busy actually learning while their here at court for me to really get to know them.

Me: Nenith and Atharielle could have become best friends if Ree hadn't....you know. ;)

Mistress Rwebhu Kidh wrote:

Oh, plenty. Though I'd call it more mockery than teasing. They can't understand why I'm not frivolous or what I would want with books and knowledge. It's a shame. Athulia is one of the strongest countries in the world, yet her nobles are barely literate. Wouldn't it be better for a country to be known for its scholars and knowledge than for her might, if it had to choose? I suppose that's what, other than knowing Alaen, got me interested in knowing about Nalycia. They'd rather have peace and knowledge than war and power.

Me: Woah, bunny trail there...

Not really. There are benefits to being the youngest. My brothers tease me about it, but Father's more concerned with getting Sylve married off for now, and I'm happy to let it stay that way.

He's not like any other man I know. He has principles and he holds to them and he truly cares about other people. He's not afraid to look ridiculous and is willing to laugh at himself. Everyone wears a mask of some sort. Alaen's, when he's not trying to protect himself, is the thinnest I've ever seen. He's real. Some would say he's handsome, but I don't care so much about that.

Me: ...

Fine, I admit that I'm a woman. When I see the care and soul deep in his eyes I can't imagine a man any better looking.

Distanced. Father is always busy with affairs of state, and mother....well, I don't remember her that well.
