Post subject:  How about compiling Medieval & Fantasy Vocabulary & Such?

I am new to writing in the Christian Fantasy Realm, I know some, of both this realm and the medieval time.
I have done some research but..... I think it would be good to have a list of common vocabulary, characters, and such things.
I was thinking that everyone pitch in their input (if willing) and we could create a list.

What ya'll think? I think it would be very beneficial especially for beginners in this realm or someone who needs a quick problem solver.

Heather.

Oh gosh, this thread looks promising to be awesome. :D

Well, there's the smith, the herbalist, the cartographer, and of course, court jesters.

Common words could be Aye, or ye, and of course nay.

Weapons like a mace or quarterstaff.

Dragons, dragons, dragons. Need I say more? ;)

And then there's clothing. Vestment, tunic, knickers or breeches, chemise, corset, cap, wimple, jerkin, vambraces, gauntlets, chain mail shirts.

Hmm. Then there's herbs. Peppermint, St. John's Wort, Lavender, Mint, Thyme.

I'll think of more later :D

Hmmm this sounds promising. Thanks

I have a book about dragons and currently looking it over and with the combination of my imagination and the information the book gives me, I am hopefully gonna come up with some interesting Dragons.

A wise king once wrote-
"The LORD reigns forever; he has established his throne for judgment. He will judge the world in righteousness; he will govern the peoples with justice. The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you. Sing praises to the LORD, enthroned in Zion; proclaim among the nations what he has done. For he who avenges blood remembers; he does not ignore the cry of the afflicted." -Psalm 9:7-12

Psalm 9 is basically what my characters are going through in my story

Be careful with 'ye' though. In medieval/old English, it means 'the', but later it means 'you' - so that might be something to clear up.

Also in clothing, there are kirtles - pretty much woman's outermost dress, be it long-sleeved or not.

Here's a list of terms that maybe would be helpful - it'll be easier to post the link than to go through to find words and type them here.

Hope this helps! It's interesting!
