Hank is a seemingly ordinary boy from the city.

His mother died in childbirth (everyone thinks), and his father remarried immediately after her death. She adopted both he and his sister. They were brought up believing this new wife is their birth mother.

When he was six, his parents got a divorce, his mother gaining full custody. She heavily favors his sister, yet he is not bitter toward the girl. She is like a mother to him, even though she's only a year older. They haven't seen their father for four years.

Now, at ten years of age, he likes animals, especially horses, and he enjoys art. Personality wise, he's shy and timid, but tries to do the right thing.

How did he react to his parent's divorce? Was he mature enough to understand what was happening?

Why did they divorce, and how did it affect Hank?

Does he miss his father? Does he know any reason of why he has not seen him for four years?

What does he want to do when he grows up?

Does he love his adoptive mother?

What is he afraid of?

Does he know now that his adopted mother is not his real mother? How does he feel about it? Does he wish he knew his birth mother?

Why does he like art? Is it an outlet to express his emotions, or something else?

He keeps his feelings in, so he didn't react too much. Not quite. He didn't completely understand what was happening, but he knew something bad was going on.

Mostly a matter of pride. His father would never admit to being wrong, even when he severely hurt Hank's mother. Hank doesn't trust as easily because of the divorce.

Yes, he misses him a lot. No, he can't think of any logical reason for his mother to withhold visiting his father.

He wants to show horses.

He doesn't want anything to happen to her, but I wouldn't say he loves her.

Never being loved and losing his sister.

He does not have any idea that his adoptive mother is not his birth mother, so he really doesn't think anything of it.

Yes. He can do whatever he wants with his paintings, and he likes feeling like he has control.

You say that his sister is like his mother, so what was the cause of not 'having' a relationship with his mom? And a response to the response. What is the reason why he's afraid of not being love?

His mother heavily favors his sister, and she's never made any attempt to have a relationship with him. Being quiet and timid, he decided not to take initiative and develop one with her.

He's never known a parent's love, so he's afraid he never will. Like all kids, he needs a mom and a dad to be there for him, and since he's never had that, he's even more frightened.
