Here is a fun summary of my new book! Taking Solus is the science fiction title I want to read. It combines cutting edge technology (dna robots) with controversial topics (eugenics) matched with a world coiled up between religious animosity and a desire for objective standards of law. The discovery of a fuel which could potentially send them back to their home galaxy has one man, Darin Enteel, establishing a colony on this new planet, Solus. At the last minute he realizes he not only has an enemy within his ranks, but that they’ve got his son hostage. The face of his enemy is none other than the top general of his own country, who plans to turn this extraterrestrial colony into a military base where he can avoid the recent prohibitions of war machines and launch an attack on their planet, Kitane. With control of both planets, he fears they will never return to their home world and the protection of the Arakun in the galactic battle between good and evil. He has an hour left before launch, but the general has threatened him that if he doesn’t go along like nothing happened, he will have someone named Versar perform experiments on his son that will make him wish he were dead. His wife is on her way with her ex-military brother to rescue her son. Will they make it on time? Will Darin go along with the launch as planned if she doesn’t? To make matters even worse, he finds out that both Versar and General Metzen are linked with his friend Lynl’s company nL Co., which has revolutionized genetic therapy and even performed on both his wife and son. With hands in nearly every city in the world, Darin suspects something far worse than the takeover of the new colony has already passed the point of no return. |

This sounds really cool, and thought provoking at the same time. I would definitely be interested in reading this. |

Thanks Lady Terra and Armorbearer Since I posted that first summary, the story has changed in scope a little. I have pushed forward the beginning of the book so that I can encompass more exploration of the home planet instead of having such a large chunk on the moon (Solus). I have also decided to go through some plot and character arcs and outlines before starting this. I never did this on my first book and am wishing I did with how difficult the edit is going. This time I am trying to figure out my ending first and make everything build towards that, as well as having a plan for each character's arc towards their goal. I have a twist that I've figured out how to introduce at the beginning and a ticking time bomb in the works to introduce as well, per my resources: 21 Days to a Novel by Michael Stackpole and The Art and Craft of Writing Christian Fiction by Jeff Gerke. I am charting my journey writing this book on my website if you want to stop by and discuss. |

Hurray for Science Fiction. I would so totally read this. I'm slightly confused about the political situation, but it sounds really cool. |
