Okay, so Bakar would never actually seek out a duel with anyone, but I want to fight someone. I doubt there will be much dialog given that he doesn't really know anyone well enough to want to have a conversation. If anyone has a character who could just attack Bakar, then I think we could have a pretty cool intense duel. I just need to work out some new ways of describing combat, and I figured this would be a good place to practice. Also feel free to bring more than one character. I might cap it at some point if it gets too confusing, but hey, it is just for fun right? So with that said, I will set up a scene in which this duel will take place.

Small, sharp stones grind together under Bakar's brown leather boots. The sky is bright and clear, but the sun does little to take the nip out of the breeze as it runs up the mountain pass. Bakar looks to his right and left where caves and crevasses create dark spots on the rocky walls which line the pass. He had once dwelt in this forsaken place, but he shudders to remember the horrible things which transpired between these looming walls. He stops and the grinding of the gravel under his feet stops as well. Something is not right.... The pass is empty except for a few scattered white-grey boulders, frozen puddles, and the bone-white gravel which covers the ground. A dry breeze tangles through Bakar's thick hair and stings his numbing face. Though it is bitter cold, Bakar instinctively removes his thick gloves and his body tenses...

(I could bring my character Rarrick in, and just make it so he's not allowed to use magic. I should give prior warning though, I need quite a bit of work writing out combat as well.)

(Will bring a book character, Qwind who is a swordsman, who wields an electric sword.)

Both of those sound fine. You can use magic if you want. Just describe what you are doing well enough for me to react. This sounds sort of mean, but I honestly don't care if Bakar gets in over his head. It will be neat to see what happens. Lets just begin in this thread and see what happens. Maybe other characters will come to the aid Bakar, or Rarrick, or Qwind if things get to difficult for any of them.
I hereby name this a free for all. You are allowed to do whatever so long as you leave it open ended enough for the other character to respond. You can also gang up on other characters if you wish.
Bakar is waiting for your characters to reveal themselves. I'll leave it up to you to whether they walk up and introduce themselves or just attack from a distant shadow.
Let's begin...your move...

(Wait! Bakar is good, and so is Qwind. So do they fight one of my bad guys?)

Watching Bakar at the top of a tree he, Qwind, saw him tense and take off his gloves. Jumping down three stories high he landed with his left hand on the ground with his grey cloak flying in the wind. Standing straight Qwind held a handle of a sword less blade. Then staring at Bakar with his blue eyes he asked, "What are you doing here?"

Not being much for words, Bakar merely observed the stranger and his even stranger weapon. The wind continued to nip at his exposed skin, and he did not feel the need to remove his thick scarf to communicate with the man standing before him. Bakar glanced up to see a waving branch from which this unnamed figure leaped. If this man meant to hinder Bakar or do him harm then....
Bakar suddenly leaped at the figure hurling a foot forward to try and lodge the weapon between his foot and the stranger's body.

Qwind, being cut short from his sentence was kicked on his chest with his weapon on his chest tumbling backwards, head going down first and his feet last, but extending his hands did a flip backwards then eyeing Bakar with new thoughts. I have never been good at hand to hand combat, this would be interesting.

Bakar did not relent. He followed closely behind his tumbling opponent, and threw up a series of attacks in an attempt to drive him toward the near cliff wall.

Slowly being driven to the cliff wall, after getting a blow on his right cheek he turned and ran to the cliff wall, then jumping up on the wall he pushed himself off landing behind Bakar. Then looking at his blade less sword he said to it, "Lewigh." Then, an electric blade came out, buzzing with noise. Looking knowingly at Bakar, he began twirling his sword with skill.

Bakar reached to take hold of his enemy as he flew overhead, but to no avail. Bakar gazed at the blade in awe, but only for a moment. He quickly dug right toe deep into the loose gravel about his feet and kicked it up in a spray of debris and thick dust creating a cover as he quickly unwrapped his scarf from about his neck. He plunged toward the light of the glowing sword, and lashed out his scarf to try and wrap the hand which wielded the deadly looking weapon.

Being hit by Gravel made Qwind close his eyes for a few seconds. Then he felt a few jerks on his hand. Then he opened his eyes and saw Bakar holding his wrist and trying to pry Lewigh, Qwind's sword, from him. Then he let Bakar have the blade."It is voice activated." Said Qwind, not wanting Bakar to have high hopes.

Now in possession of the stranger's weapon Bakar took a step away from him. The curious weapon suddenly lost its glowing blade. Bakar glanced at it bewildered by the small hilt. He quickly threw it up into one of the dark caves behind him, and rushed to entangle his opponent with his scarf. He still didn't feel that it was safe to talk. Bakar would ask his questions once he was safely on top of the situation.

Qwind seeing Bakar coming with his scarf to strangle he grabbed the wrists of Bakar. Then he looked at the cave where Bakar threw his sword then began making his way towards the cave, still holding the wrists of Bakar.

Bakar, feeling the shift of weight in Qwind's approach to the cave quickly stops and squats low allowing Qwind's body to tumble over his own in the direction of the cave. He then quickly lunges onto Qwind in a headlong dive with his strong hands out before him.

As Qwind fell he slid to the right making Bakar fall to where he was earlier. Wasting no time he began going down the cave.

Bakar scrambled to his feet to pursue Qwind into the darkness of the cave. It should be nigh impossible for either of them to find the hilt Bakar had thrown in there moment before. Bakar tried to slip along the right wall of the cave to avoid his silhouette from being detected from within. He slowed his breathing and listened for the sounds that would tell where his opponent stood.

Qwind then stopped as he heard a little breathing that slowed down. Then knowing the danger of using a flashlight would show his assailant where he was, but he wouldn't let go of his father's sword. Thinking slowly then his right eye began glowing in the darkness, analyzing every crack or crag. Then the Vault told him that his sword was further down the cave. Then turning towards the entrance of the cave he said, "In-fro Red please." Then he saw Bakar's body against the wall of the cave.

Please do! I am wondering what a multiple character fight will look like.

As soon as he heard a whisper of a sound, Bakar threw his right heal forward into the darkness where he knew it would collide with what he assumed would be a stomach.

It would be funny if Bakar actually kicked toward your character Renna, or maybe Qwind actually saw your character against the wall. Just want to throw some twist ideas in there.

So, just to make sure we are on the same page; The two characters so far, Bakar and Qwind, are in a cave. Qwind does not have his sword. Qwind has seen what he at least thinks is Bakar against a wall. Bakar has just thrust his foot toward the stomach of what he guesses to be Qwind. It is dark, hence the guessing and assuming. I'm just waiting for someone to respond to Bakar's attack. Take your time. I just wanted to clear things up.

Guys! There is no "plan". Just roll with the punches and see what happens. Don't be afraid to fail. Just get in there and fight! Make up whatever you want. Maybe your guy catches Bakar's foot or something. They are in a dark cave. It is okay if they are a little confused.

((Okay, sorry about that. :/ I'll just post something then...))

Rarrick kept quiet, crouched in what he hoped was an out-of-the-way corner in the cave. He had been following one of these fellows for quite some time, but had come into the cave to rest for a while. Traveling was best left to his minions.
He got a shock when one of the men who were fighting accidentally (or maybe on purpose) kicked him in the chest. After taking a second to retrieve his breath, Rarrick sent a small fireball in the general direction of the offender.

((Bah. I promise my writing style will improve in the next few posts. My first posts are always bad.))

Qwind still watching Bakar when he saw him kick his foot into another person. Uh oh, now who can this be? Then the cave lit up when this new person shot a fire ball straight at Bakar.

Bakar knew, as soon as his foot connected, that he had not discovered his original opponent. His realization was confirmed as a flash of light illuminated the unfamiliar features of this new threat. Bakar quickly ducked down and to the right as the burst of flame grazed his left shoulder, biting through his garments and flesh. He turned his ducking into rolling and came up on his feet to the left of fire thrower. Thinking he saw his original assailant in the flash of light, Bakar hoped to position this new threat between them. Patting out the flames on his shoulder caused extreme pain. Bakar would have to be careful how he used that arm. He quickly swept his right leg along the cave floor hoping to catch the ankles of the fire thrower.

*Me: You are fine, Renna. This is all just for fun, and practice. Let's just let loose and have fun! Others are still welcome. If you see an opening for a character to join, then have at it. Just try to be very clear in your character's actions and reactions.*

Qwind silently walked towards both Bakar and I-don't-know-who, then the light disappeared he cautiously walked forward, when he felt some one sweep his/her foot under him making him fall.

(Oops. :P Sorry. For some reason, HW wasn't telling me anyone posted on here. :? )

Rarrick jumped to his feet and moved sideways, using the darkness to his advantage. Once his eyes adjusted, he could see shadows where the others were standing. He unsheathed the jagged-edged sword he kept at his waist, circling around the perimeter of the cave.

Qwind closed his eyes to listen for any sound or movement. Hearing breathing from two sides of the cave, he bent down to his leg and pulled out a golden hunting knife. Now I'm ready.

Bakar quickly rose to his feet and even more quickly dove to a distant corner of the cave. Did I just kick two pairs of legs? he asked himself. He very quietly tries to position himself as the one deepest in the cave in hopes of seeing a body outlined against the light, though the opening was drawing farther away as the battle persisted. Hearing the sound of metal being unsheathed, Bakar decided the cave was the last place he wanted to be. Not seeing anyone directly in the path of the opening, he suddenly dashes for the opening through the very center of the cave.

Qwind looked up, seeing the outline of Bakar running out of the cave, the he threw the knife unto the shoulder blade of Bakar.

Bakar felt the sting of the blade in his left shoulder. He fell recklessly out of the mouth of the cave and into the light of the day, slamming hard against the sharp gravel beneath. Scrambling to his feet, Bakar reached back and tore the blade out. He quickly made for a part of the mountain pass that was well out of sight from within the cave and made a very quick makeshift bandage/sling out of his scarf. He could feel the warmth of his own blood trickling down his skin and soaking into his clothing. He took a quick look at the knife in his hand. "This is why I hate knives," he said as he suddenly bashed the thing against a rock to dull it beyond use and then threw it across the valley. His left arm was well beyond use now.

*In the future, it would be nice if you said something like, "so-and-so threw a knife at the other guy's shoulder." That would leave it open for a response. I was planing on Bakar making a dive and a roll to avoid any such attacks, but you stuck a blade in him too fast. Don't worry about it now. Let's just continue on.*

 Oh, I'm so sorry....

Qwind began grunting as he began running out of the cave hoping to find Bakar.

Rarrick heard both Qwind and Bakar leave the cave. Never one to be hasty, he picked his way through the cave towards the opening, careful not to stumble. When he left the cave, he stood for a few seconds, waiting for his eyes to adjust to the sudden light.
Then he scanned his surroundings, searching for any sign of the two men. He couldn't see either of them. Rarrick muttered an oath under his breath, and set about looking for tracks.

Qwind heard someone who began running out of the cave, then he quickly scaling the wall he hid among the rocks. Argh, the golden knife was a birthday present, I wish I hadn't thrown it.

Bakar, halfway across the pass from the cave, was trying his best to stay hidden among a small enclave of boulders. He turned his attention back toward the cave where a figure stood. Suddenly the figure began climbing the cliff face at an astonishing speed. A second figure emerged slowly from the darkness of the cave. A curse slipped quietly between Bakar's lips. The wind had picked up and was almost unbearable. Why was the sun not sharing any warmth on such a clear day? He reluctantly donned his mittens. They restricted his movement, but his hands would be of even less use if they were frozen stiff. He also pulled out a small leather sling and fix a small rock in its pouch. He was not yet ready to reveal his hiding place, but he wanted to have some form of defense with a little range. He quickly grabbed a few more stones, placed them in his pocket, and watched the other two warriors.

Rarrick saw a few marks in the gravel, presumably where another one of the warriors had been just a few minutes before. Those were the only tracks to be found--at least, that Rarrick's eyes, untrained for tracking, had seen.
Listening carefully for any sounds that might betray the locations of the two warriors, Rarrick started forward.

Qwind watched Rarrick stoop down upon the gravel, then start walking forward, Qwind followed every action Rarrick made.

Bakar could feel his wound was beginning to stabilize; never being one all that good at waiting, he decided--perhaps foolishly--to make the first move. Squatting low, Bakar took a few shuffles backwards and twirled his sling low over his head but still out of sight. He let loose a pop-shot at the man on the cliff wall; at least there was the chance that the other man would turn his attention there rather than continuing in Bakar's direction. He held his breath: he needed to be quieter now then ever.

Qwind still watching Rarrick heard a whistling sound coming towards his face. As quickly as he could he jumped down without knowing that Rarrick was bellow him.

Rarrick heard a commotion above him, but turned too late. Someone crashed into him from above, sending him toppling to the ground. His arms were pinned beneath his body, restricting any chance he had of fighting back. Instead, Rarrick attempted to escape, or at least regain some use of his arms or hands.

Qwind grunted and looked around, he felt perfectly normal, except for an open fleshy wound at the back of his neck which he guessed was from the whistling stone, and he felt something soft under him.
