Here is more information about my nation Sannahet in the world of Enderion. If you want a birds-eye view of ALL the nations in Enderion, then I also have a thread for that here.

Sannahet
Sannahet is an island nation in the southwest of Enderion. They are an island nation therefore shipping and water are very important in the nation's tradition.

Sannahet is one of the oldest nations, along with Nerandia, which was destroyed, therefore they consider themselves very pure. They look down on the people of the Enclave, who they consider simply Nerandian refugees (which is mainly true). Sannahet has many small islands and archipelagos in its nation therefore transportation is especially well-developed.

The nation is divided geographically by a river down the middle that also divides the country culturally. The eastern half is greater in population and speaks the common dialect of the language. They have less power politically. The western half has a small population yet is generally wealthier. They speak the official language of Sannahet, but do not condescend to speak the common dialect. They hold more power in the government. Despite these differences, the two groups get along very peacefully and there are few problems internally.

Sannahet historically has had many clashes with Tarbiyaan, a nation to the north. Legend has it that the Sannahet founded the nation of Tarbiyaan and yet Tarbiyaan later broke away. As Tarbiyaan also holds many islands the two nations frequently clash in naval warfare though Sannahet's fleet is far superior (Tarbiyaans are primarily a land people).

The nation which Sannahet is most friendly with is Culvinis, and large amounts of trade and people go back and forth between these two nations frequently. When Culvinis is overrun by Srugoz, this is the final straw that convinces the Sannahet to go to war against Srugoz.

Government is fairly archaic, and is a monarchy descending from Almuníy's (the first king of Nerandia) second son. The king is called the Sann and has absolute power in the nation. There is a parliamentary body called the Mevêrn but they have almost no power practically, except to judge cases the people bring before them.

Because of this monarchy tradition, there is a strong belief that your family is your best distinguishing feature. However, the Sannahet are not opulent like the Enclave inhabitants and believe in a simple lifestyle (like the Amish, sort of). They do use up-to-date things compared to other nations but their clothing is simple and practical. They also have a great respect for someone from a bad family who can work their way up in business or work, similar to the Enclave's beliefs.

The largest amount of trade and commerce is with Vitnea, though some Sannahet ships do visit Véhonas occasionally. There is also large amounts of internal trade between the various islands. A wealthy merchant is one that owns at least two or three ships to carry goods around the nation. Merchants will often buy an escort from the independent militia fleets that patrol the seas. These fleets are not bad, but are actually looked down upon in Sannahet. That being said, the militias are extremely powerful and protect the nation from Tarbiyaan more than the Royal Navy does.

Sannahet has two different languages. One, the common speech is based off of the speech of Nerandia and is spoken mainly by the eastern half (Some of which are Nerandian refugees). The 'book language' is the one that the western half speaks and is used in literary works and in official ruling business. However, much to the western half's chagrin, the common dialect is the language of business so many successful western merchants also speak the common speech. The 'book speech' is actually a much newer language and was an idea of the king's sixty years ago to promote a literary language that was unique from Nerandia's.

What do you guys think? :D

Update: I've got a new thread for Sannahet with some new information in my new subforum here. This thread can be closed or deleted, I guess.
