| I'm creating this map for the world my serial fiction, which will accompany Journey of a World Builder. Note 1: A black circle. The vague beginning concept for the continent. Note 2: Another circle. More interesting. After forming this circle, I added arrows pointing inward on any dents in the circle, and arrows pointing out wherever the circle went away from the center. Note 3: You can see that I followed the arrows fairly well, exaggerating the features of the circle. I added another set of arrows, on some points I wasn't satisfied with. Note 4: This can be considered the first "draft" of the concept. It has the basic essence. I placed some arrows on one point that was still to bland for me. Then, I added a grid, dividing the continent into four sections. I was going to scale up the model so that it consumed an entire sheet of paper. The grids help keep the general scale. Attachment:

| Here is the next step. I used the lines through the middle to keep the scale, and then I decided on the North-South angles.

I would suggest drawing flow lines to guide the creation of the islands in a more organized and artistic disorder. Just a tip.

I've tried that several times, and I've been unhappy with my flow lines for the most part. But, it will get where it needs to be.
