Melcorats are scientists possessing a a special recessive allele that allows them to interact and use nature. In truth, it isn't really magic at all. They can use the objects in nature that are around them or they can create different objects out of other parts of nature. For example, they can focus sunlight to create fire, then they can use that fire to fight. They could also combine molecules to create different substances, but in my world, they have no knowledge of such small pieces of nature. Usually, the smarter the Melcorat is, the more powerful he will be. The limit to their power would be their ability to figure out a way to create a substance. Of course it is also possible for them to exhaust substances, depending on the source. They also study ways to make nature more useful to man. Hope I didn't make that hard to understand. |

Sounds great!!!!! However, I should warn you that the name "warlock" has connotations (I grew up hearing from my parents that warlocks were "male witches,") for more protective Christian families. If your audience is Christian readers, I would suggest trying a different name. In Christ, Jordan |

Okay, any suggestions? I was actually trying to stay away from wizard, but I couldn't think of any other title fitting for them other than warlock. |

I do agree, something other than warlock... I googled different name meanings for different things relating to magic, nature and stuff like that... so I came up with a few that I mashed together. Since I am kind of new to this, they might not be good. Hope I helped Tairich Coliarsh Albilura Melcorat Drastiel |

Wizard has less connotations than warlock. A warlock is, by definition and connotation in all literatures: a male witch. A Wizard is more flexible. Wizards can be angels, wise men, or even really good fencers (beyond grandmaster), not just male witches, although they can be that too. But using another name that you make up yourself is also a good way to go, as you can fit it in with whatever you want. |

I think I'll go with Melcorat. It sounds good and it means something. Uh, what exactly does it mean, Serena? |

No it's not. Take fire for example. In your story, you would just sap heat out of the air, in mine, they would focus the sunlight. It would look the same to someone who was watching, but it is a different process. |
