I looked up my new MC's name meaning a few days ago, and her name, Lillian, means 'my God is a vow.' I'm wondering, does anyone have a more in-depth explanation for the meaning? I can't quite figure out what the meaning means. |

What does it mean her God is a vow?Yeah, sorry...I tried again and I just searched Google "What does "my God is a vow" mean?" and found some interesting answers...I know this isn't as good an answer as someone more knowledgeable could give, but you could at least look up something for now anyway.

I think it basically means devoted to God, at least that's what I think. It sounds a bit confusing, but that's what it says to me.

That would mean essentially the same thing my name, Elizabeth, means. Different versions say "God is my promise", "promised to God", "God's promise", "oath of God", "I am God's daughter", "my God is a vow", etc. Does that make it clearer? |

I was going to mention Elizabeth. Yes, it could be taken as "consecrated to God" or it could be taken more as a confidence in God. "God will be true" or "God is faithful".
