| I have a character who is native to Lor-Amar. I know a lot about what he's like, but I can't get a handle on his appearance. I want him to look the part, but I'm not sure I want to have the usual Aragorn/Boromir look of long hair and a goatee. Does anyone know of different looks that work in a traditional fantasy realm? I could use advice and examples. | |

| If you don't like long hair and a goatee, you could try shorter hair and a beard... But if you don't want any facial hair, then he could be clean shaven and have short hair...the only thing with that is you might want to give him some kind of reason for shaving and getting his hair cut (or cutting it himself) so often...to avoid head lice perhaps? I hope that helps...if I missed the point let me know and I can try again...one thing you could try is looking up male actors from movies you like, or thinking about characters from other stories you've read. Have fun finding your character's appearance! | |

| I'm sort of looking for examples because I picture a dozen different things for every length mentioned and none of them look medieval enough. | |

| Well, I probably don't know what 'medieval looking' is exactly, because I think long dark hair and a beard or goatee are the most medieval looking look, but after that I can take other things that you see more today and they seem to fit quite well in a fantasy world in a medievalish era...like for a blond/light haired guy you could have hair that's a few inches long and a short beard (like less than an inch long)...to me that could fit in a medievalish setting. Is that the sort of example you meant? | |

| I still have trouble picturing it. What I really should do is look up pictures on the subject. It's hard to get decent results though. | |

| Men's hairstyle examples are hard to come by on line. I found a couple of links that might give you some ideas though. http://www.vikinganswerlady.com/hairsty ... Hairstyles http://articles.latimes.com/2012/jan/29 ... e-20120129 | |
