Ooh, this is neat. Sadly, I'm not very great at essence-mapping, so I'm not sure how helpful I could be.
My favorites are 'a book of old fashioned poetry', 'the art of chess playing', and 'swans'.

I found "Pain: The potential of an egg" Rather... odd. Is this person having an unexpected child? (Eh... Maybe I should just drop it there) Then there's references to different alphabets. I have to be completely honest, I don't see how they represent anything like temperature. I don't know. I turn to nature for my xmaps. But just a question overall: What is this an essence to? It say's "The Experience" but is it an event in a story? It would be easier to critique if I knew what this represents. This looks like you put a lot of effort though! You get a cookie for effort.

To answer the last question first... It is the essence of a theme, so I just called it Essence 01 because there will be (and already are) other essence maps of themes. "The Experience" is the title of the first part of the map, sorry about that confusion. *edits out ambiguity * This is actually the essence map of a Birthday theme I thought of for my eighteenth birthday. Seabird Mimetes wrote: "Pain: The potential of an egg" Part of the idea of the Pain of the essence is like the idea of the potential of an egg. They are not connected by association, but by comparison of ideas. It is a very specific element (how many ideas of pain are like the potential of an egg?). A keystone principal of essence is: A disconnect in association powerfully clarifies the aesthetic connection. For example: "Courage like a rock" =courage that is hard to break like a rock is hard to break But ....Courage ........A rock =an idea of courage that is like the idea of a rock The first statement uses association, and it basically says "great courage." That is all fine, but great courage is general, an amount, not descriptive. Far more specific is an essence with a part that is like an idea of pain with a part that is like the idea of the potential of an egg. Me, Jay, and Juliet developed essence mapping. Jay and Juliet developed all kinds of interesting things you can do with essence mapping, but I developed mostly the conceptual end. I had a good idea what I was aiming for, then it was developed enough for me to use it (but not explain it), and now I am starting to be able to explain it. Jay wanted me to expose ye Holy Worlders to what I was working on, and specifically requested that I post this map. I have it posted in X+, but I also posted it here because it does not use anything more than what first X has.
