As always, please bear with me. It gets kind of complicated (though I ain't got nuthin on Jay.)

When Quintor created the world, he formed the land to display His creativity, and then created the six races to bring glory to His name. (See my topics on Tulirans and Raechal [I made one for the Elves in Culture but have discovered that I'm mixing up Races and Culture so I'll straighten that out soon] and my soon-to-come topics on Haethor, Sivanis, and Humans)

Now, before the world was created, Quintor created a legion of beings specifically to serve Him, to help the races grow closer to Him, and to help them in times of dire need. These were the Guardians, marked by a distinctive iridescent quality of their eyes. The leader of these was Cae'ach, a very powerful individual with much sway over the others. When he saw what Quintor had made, he grew jealous and persuaded some of the Guardians to join him in a rebellion. Cae'ach and his sect of followers became known as the Treacherous. Their eyes were marked with an unchangeable red hue.

Quintor was displeased with Cae'ach and cast him out of the Highest Realm. Cae'ach saw his Master's weak spot in His creation and began wreaking havoc among the countries and races. When Quintor saw the disorder and heard his people crying out for help, He imbued their original language with magic and made them able to defend themselves again the Treacherous.
Cae'ach, however, had other plans. He seduced nearly half of the people with offers of greater power. This was the first sin.

The others stayed true. These were dubbed the Faithful for their undying devotion to their Lord, and were marked with a glowing design in the shape of a six-pointed star on the inside of their right forearm. These people were instrumental in turning a large majority of the people back to Quintor. When most saw the wrong they were doing, they pleaded for acceptance back into the Faithful. Quintor only partially granted this request; he did not give them back all of their power, but allowed them to keep only part of it as a safeguard against further rebellion. These people were dubbed the Fallen. Most of the people today are descended from these.

Furious, Cae'ach, the Treacherous, and his mortal followers brutally slaughtered most of the Faithful and a great deal of the Fallen. (This event, called the Sifting, is parallel to the Flood in our world.) Less than twenty of the Faithful survived. At this point, Cae'ach and the Treacherous withdrew from the world and used their influence mostly in disguise. The Faithful retreated to countries around the world to recover, with Carseld as a sort of haven for the races and the Faithful. The Faithful ruled Carseld almost exclusively for hundreds of years. The neighboring countries weren't so well off. Andun, to the south, was taken over by Cae'ach's mortal followers, (whose original name has been forgotten -- called the Unspoken by those who dare to bring up the subject) who are marked by a black crescent on the inside of their left forearm, and ruled at the same time Carseld was being ruled by the Faithful. Thus the two countries grew apart and have stayed apart...until now.

Tell me what you think!
