for those of us with little drawing ability, ProFantasy (an RPG resource company) makes a program called Campaign Cartographer which allows even the most inept of artists to make decent fantasy maps. I'll warn that it is fairly pricey (around 40 or 50 $) but in my case it was worth it.

Yes I do, but I'm not that good.

I am by no means so bold as to call myself an artist. I'm more comfortable saying that I have the heart of an artist, but not the hands. In fact, map-making is one of the few visual arts that I'm even decent at (besides the occasional cartoon face).

Here are the only digital maps I have at the moment. I have a few maps that I made with CC3, but none that I'm completely satisfied with as of yet. These were all drawn by hand on my computer using my pen tablet and ArtRage. None of them are labeled and one is still under construction.

File comment: This is undoubtedly my best map ever. This is my working idea for my world of Mythica, but that may change. It's still under construction at the moment. I haven't gotten past the mountains and the rivers so far.

File comment: This is my first (saved) attempt to handdraw a map on my computer. This one of many attempted maps for my world Fantasia. I've kinda scrapped this particular map but kept it on my computer anyway.

File comment: This is a colored-in version of the map above, with more mountains and forest added in. I'd be proud of it except all the trees were drawn using customized stencils, not freehand.

I definitely think yours is better. If I could draw like that by hand, I would've been able to save the $ I spent on CC3. Your map was very helpful in that it gave me an idea on how I want to do my forests for the Mythica map, which has been my major hang up on that map. I'll have to find a way to scan my paper copies and upload them soon. Keep up the good work.

Those maps you did are really cool! (And frankly Inesdar, I think yours are very good too!)

I have a pen tablet, but I prefer to draw my maps and pictures then scan them into my computer and mess with them on Corel Painter Essentials and Gimp. Long process I know.

Those were the first time I ever drew maps by hand without tracing, albeit via computer. Have never drawn any maps by hand on paper that were as good as these. And I kinda have no scanner so...
