This is another story idea I came up with recently (they're flying thick and fast right now) that is pulpy and adventurous, only it's more fantasy than my others.

Premise: Allied research groups in WW2 detect an energy source that criss-crosses the globe and is strongest at cross-roads and they devise a way to harness that energy, the W.A.N.D. Further research indicates that the energy follows ley-lines and originates at standing stone formations and other mythic spots. They call the energy M.A.N.A. (Metaphysical something) and train a squad of commandos to use the weapon. This project is code-named Operation: Caliburn.

The Commandos: There are six of them, led by a sergeant. They've nicknamed themselves Arthur's Knights, or sometimes just knights. The skills include sniping, fixing things, field medicine, blowing things up, and disguise. They carry a W.A.N.D, 10 canisters of M.A.N.A, and other commando equipment. I have no names other than Sgt. Arthur.

M.A.N.A & W.A.N.D: These are acronyms with no inner meaning. The W.A.N.D. is similar in shape and size to an M1 carbine and uses canisters that hold the M.A.N.A. and the amount of 'shots' held depends on the power used and how often you use it. It can last weeks doing minimal activity, or a canister can be used in one shot. I'm not completely sure what the limits or properties for M.A.N.A. are yet.

The writing part: This will probably be a bunch of short stories, with an occasional novella or novel for missions that can't be told in a few thousand words.

Questions? Comments? Rants?

Thanks. I'm not surprised, it's sort of another pulp throwback, like Marvel's Sgt.Fury and his Howling Commandos.

I sort of have the beginning written out; it will be in journal format as the team is about to be put into basically cryogenic sleep until they're needed again. Then they'll arrive in coordination with the superheroes.
