Tulirans:
Tulirans are one of the Six Races of my world, which currently has no name. *sigh* The name is derived from the Goth word for tree, triu. I just mixed and added some letters.
In Carseld, they live in the Anaran woods. They are tall, lithe, willowy and dark-skinned, varying from Indian (From India - not Native American) coloring to African American. They have almost luminescent golden eyes, and have incredible night vision like cats. Their gift to control the spirits of trees has led many to believe that they are part tree themselves, but this assumption is false. They have typically long, lusterless and coarse black or brown hair and a long tail, somewhat like a cross between a monkey and a cat, which they use for balance when climbing, which they do often. They are very agile and at home in the trees, usually sleeping in the tree-tops or under the roots. Their clothing is made of soft tree bark and leaves. Their armor is the same, but thicker. The primary weapons are bows and sometimes spears. The older people are also able to use the trees as weapons, maneuvering them at will, but only after years of training. They are mostly vegetarian. Meat is only used for special occasions.

Any questions?

Wondering whether they are an advanced civilization or more primitive?
How exactly does one "wear" bark? lol
It doesn't sound very comfortable unless they are
weaving fibrous bark like flax or something.

Also wondered if all of your cultures acknowledge Quintor
or are some of them decieved/ignorant?

I know we discussed this, but I'll post it for the benefit of the others on the forum.
I think the Tulirans make their clothing from the bark of a special tree, either somewhat like flax as you suggested, or having a netting grown under the rough bark or whatever. I personally like the idea of having a fibrous bark and them weaving it like yarn or thread. *shrugs* Again, I'm open for suggestions.
And I also think that this:

is utterly unacceptable. *huff*

They aren't very advanced as far as metal and technology, but they have a complex language and ceremony system.

ROTFL I knew that would get a rise out of you!

For the clothing problem they could have string pulled through several different pieces of bark to make a skirt or something or they could take thin layers and bend them slightly and attach two or more pieces.

Ah. This is what you described in Character Introductions, right? That explains Chayten, he has more in common with felines then I thought. Pretty cool! You're very creative.

I like this race :D

Could you expand on how the Fallen have infiltrated this race? I'm making an assumption that they have since you said in your history thread that the Guardians are able to look like any race, and from that I concluded that they probably have spies trying to bring each race down from within.

Did God give each race specific ceremonies to follow to worship Him? How about dispensations, stewardship roles, specific to this race?

I think you'll be fine making clothes. The bark of certain trees can be harder and used for armor, while younger trees of a certain species can be used for clothes.

If they have great night vision, are they nocturnal? Do they have an alliance with someone or thing (animal) that protects them during the day? Maybe they have a sect of guardians who wear special glasses to protect their eyes from daylight...

Well, I had a reply typed out, but the database crashed. I should probably just post in history. :D

huh, I read your reply, and think I replied back. your hierarchy was very helpful. I did have it mixed up.

I think the eyes not changing is an interesting choice. Maybe, there is still a risk at night for spies because their eyes can't be seen at night, so the Treacherous can blend in.

I can't remember what else I said, other than that I think your idea is well thought out.

Well, since I posted this, I have developed them quite a bit more. Here is some updated, basic information on my Tulirans. Expect similar posts on the rest of my six races. :)

Tulirans are humanoid with a long, cat-like tail.

The Tulirans' eyes are gold and deep-set with a round pupil.

Their hair is coarse and thick with little shine, kept in waist-length braids or long ponytails. On the males, facial hair is mild, but most prefer to stay clean-shaven. The color is deep black or brown. When interbred with other races, a recessive gene often shows and they are born with silky, shiny gold hair. Among the pure-blooded Tulirans this is extremely rare.

Their noses are sharp and prominent.

Their skin is a deep brown (think African-American) to almost black. it is not thick, heals easily but also scars easily.

Their emotions can almost never be read on their faces. The forehead is high and broad, the cheekbones very prominent, the jawline strong and cleanly cut. This gives them a sharp-edged appearance.

Their build is slightly delicate, height averages from 6' 1" to 6' 8". The limbs are long but strong and slightly muscled. Their fingers are long and slender. Occasionally, among the less pure of their race, the skin under their fingernails, on their palms, and the soles of their feet will be pale.

Sense of sight rated at 4 1/2 (excellent), touch at 4 (very good), hearing at 3 (moderate), taste at 2 (poor), and smell at 2 1/2 (moderate). A weakness is sudden flashes of bright light. This can temporarily or permanently blind them.

Their movement is moderately quick, extremely graceful with very good agility, which enables them to climb even the most difficult of trees. Forest is their natural habitat. Their strength is moderate and their stamina poor. They can work magic and sustain it with moderate ease.

Their talent of gift from God is manipulation of wood, living or dead. Even the young ones can meld a piece of bark or a stick into a marvelous sculpture. The oldest and most skilled among them can make the tree spirits appear as visible beings and bend them to their will.

They hate wide, open spaces.

Their faith is strong but often twisted to reflect and serve their own ideals.

They are not known for their loyalty.

Their language is similar in sound and structure to French. They have fairly deep but sometimes nasal voices. If they learn English (called Lindian in my world) they will have trouble with contractions and many will drop them altogether. They usually speak fairly fast and loud enough for all to hear.

They have an affinity for fire and it is usually hard to enchant them unless they have been tainted beforehand.

Their leaders are chosen by royal blood or by a series of trials.

They prefer nocturnal hours.

Overall, they are a sharp, hard people. Their laws are merciless, and they often deal with others in the same manner.
